  • I am very proud to say I managed a no spend day today, for the first time in a long while. Now I’ve done it once, I know I can do it again and am aiming for another nsd tomorrow. It sounds silly but I’m really pleased with myself because it’s a step in the right direction to where I want to be.

Today I watered all the bedding plants in the greenhouse I’ve grown from seed
I cleaned lots of the house with diluted dettol
I’ve made a bolognese from leftover veg and freezer bits ready for tomorrow (and enough to freeze two good portions as well)
Did lots of washing and dried some outside and some on airer
    Weeded the patio

Tomorrow I have plans to do lots of gardening, plant veg seeds, and walk my not so little any more puppy.

Morning all :hello: hope you are feeling better Ziggy

Up early as a cough woke me, so I got up as didn't want to wake DH. I've been productive ;)

It's payday, so money shuffle done. Use back of a party invite foxgloves for my various workings out :A all pots topped up and just for points cc paid.
Filled in a couple of forms that I found when I was sorting out a box of papers at the weekend. One is from when I started a ppi claim. I'm not hopeful but now I've found what I need, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Set up online account for a health cash plan I've started so I can make a claim :)
Updated next years budget (starts sept) with a few payments that have changed recently

    Other things to do:
    Wrap present for party later
Order medicated cat food online, go through c/b site
Something out of freezer for tea
    Do next weeks meal plan
Put washer on drum clean as it flashed on last wash and make a note of date in bullet journal as it's not always easy to spot at the end of a cycle
Packed lunch and snacks to work

Have a good day everyone. Purps.

Morning :D Am back off of work again :( went to work yesterday, broke down crying over something relatively small and was sent home.

Which gives me a day to suit myself - every cloud! Taking things fairly easy so as not to put pressure on myself...

    Today:

[STRIKE]* going to go to the allotment for a couple of hours. Digging is good for the soul![/STRIKE]
*[STRIKE] make a loaf of bread[/STRIKE]
    * cook spag bol in the pressure cooker
    * do some sowing of seeds - managed to find some motivation to do some sowing yesterday & planted up a fair bit - aubergines, shard, calabrese, salad, basil, coriander, patty pans :D
    [STRIKE]* listen to free podcasts[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]* get my overlocker out and attempt to work it out again. Have seen some tutorials and advice on how to resolve the problem I'm having so want to see if I can finally get to grips with it! [/STRIKE]
*[STRIKE] renewed library books [/STRIKE]- the email reminder is so helpful! Library fines are my nemesis :o
    * [STRIKE]do I have the energy to log on to my bank account and do all my financials? Not sure, will see....[/STRIKE] done! Not as bad as I was fearing (mh not very good = not keeping my eye on the financial ball, spending money to cheer myself up. Have spent a lot of money on fabric and patterns over last month. But luckily when I assessed the situation not much more on other things :) small blessings!)
    * emailed seller on ebay to see if I can exchange something I bought for a different colour. Fingers crossed.... done
[STRIKE]* have a look on cookingonabootstrap and look to ways I can reduce grocery spends as it's creeping up again. Anyone know of a website you can put in ingreidents and it'll suggest recipes?[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]* pick some spinach at allotment and make pearl barley soup [/STRIKE]

Ok that will do for now
    DF as at 30/12/16
    Wombling 2026: £25.70
    Grocery spend challenge Feb £285.11/£250
    GC annual £389.25/£2700
    Eating out budget: £ 48.87/£300
    Extra cash earned 2026: £185

Morning PF& Dnms and all who follow.

Pf you have had a productive early start! Hope you get a full nights sleep tonight.
Dnms, sorry to hear that you were upset yesterday. I hope you have a good day.

Last proper day of the school holidays today and we don't have much of a plan.
    I do need to
    * go to aldee as we don't have food in after our holiday going to leave it til tomorrow instead and make do
    * check banking/update spreadsheet done
    * see if dh's payslip is available yet (might not be ready til Monday he thinks, he had a little pay raise so I'm itching to see what difference it makes to us) not available
    * sew a hole in ds1s coat before it gets too bad
    * check ds1s school bag for holes too as the sewing bag will be out
    * make a chicken curry with the meat I got out of the freezer yesterday
    * maybe pop into town to sort out ds bank account (although the weather is going to be awful so maybe not!) this may be next weekend instead
    * watch Dr strange with the kids which we bought 2nd hand a few weeks ago really enjoyed, I'd forgotten how much we'd enjoyed it at the cinema

Thats my start. Hopefully I'll add more as the day goes on.
** checked tcb & quidco, nothing payable but a couple of pence confirmed which is better then nothing.
** Done a couple of yougov surveys, must get back to doing these as I'd not done once since Feb and am 3/5 of the way to payout
** 1poll survey done too (same as above, £18/£25 so should get back to doing them)
** Isay survey, only 10 points as I wasn't suitable
Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

    Morning all :)
Hope you are ok DNMS and Ziggy :(
HK, glad things are moving re your operation at last, hope it is over and done with soon!
Up early and got some bits done:
    HG fruit wth breakfast
Washing out on line / another load in machine
    Cleared up kitchen
Gave neighbour a couple of tomato plants
    Still to do:
Clean bathroom (in a minute!) Done
Hair appointment this morning Done, tamed unruly mop!
Will walk for free exercise :)Done

Take an unwanted coat with me, to donate to the CS Done
Also put last year's calendar into the recycling - why on earth did I still have that? :rotfl: So 2 items decluttered today :T

Call in to sales unit as it is next door to the hairdresser Done, a few more sales, so all good :)
Small shop needed later, OH can do this as he wants beer! Done, must update spending diary!
    Leftover soup for lunch Done

Make a spinach and feta pie for dinner,to use HG spinach cut the other day :)Decided to make a frittata instead. Will do the pie over the weekend.
Pot up basil seedlings Not done - horrid weather and unfortunately I don't have a nice potting shed or greenhouse to do this in, only a garden table. Will have to wait for a nice day!
Better get on with that bathroom before I need to go out!
It was so cold and miserable that we have lit the stove (heating is off though). Apparently some storm is heading our way for tomorrow :( Dog has taken up his position inside the fender, so it must be serious :rotfl:

Determined - Supercook.com is a good place to find recipes for what ingredients you already have in, or searching for 'Find recipe by ingredients' will come up with several others.

Hi all :wave: I have been a lurker on here for a couple of weeks now and hopefully I can start to join in again.

A few things this week to help me now and going forward I hope.

    * Had increased hours confirmed at work yesterday from the beginning of June which should be an extra £150 per month :j
    * Managed to hoover the kitchen and hall before work this morning
    * Finished another papercut too ready to add colour too and hopefully pop up for sale in my local shop
    * Children stayed at my mums last night saving me petrol on two trips there but it does cost me a bunch of flowers as a thank you but I go to Aldi as they are better value and last longer. I might have to pick up some fruit for hubby while I'm there as he is on a massive health kick since Christmas.
    * Contrary to the last one, DH said he would treat us to payday chippy tea so no cooking for me tonight.
    * Done budget spreadsheet for May as payday is soon here. Also my birthday month so save some of those pennies for a treat for me later in the month.
    * Heavy rain here last night so no need to water and more forecast for later. Need to keep an eye on my sunflowers seedlings though.
    * Need to pick up a little gift and card for my great-nephew but only something small

I thought of so many more things when I started typing and now they've all gone out of my head.

  • Morning (afternoon) all.

Up and about off night shift and feeling really down. Can't for the life of me work out why, other than possibly lack of good sleep. Sat drinking strong coffee to wake up properly :coffee:
The weather is truly horrible today. Wet, windy and quite cold. Guess the last two weeks of hot weather had to end sometime. Just hope that wasn't our summer over with :(

    Today:
Make a batch of something as all of my home made ready meals are now used up. Need something for work tonight anyway so this will be a useful task.

Have checked banking and paid another £50 off the OD. :T

Pop to local shop as we need milk. Only taking correct change as this place is very expensive for most grocery items. Milk, bread, eggs etc. are on a par with Aldee, but other things...:naughty:

Not much else going on today. Last night shift tonight so may end up knocking out a few Z's on the sofa before then :rotfl:

Have a good day all :)

This is the first time I've had chance to sit down and post on here since last Thursday!! Between working and then staying for a couple of days with my parents, it's been busy busy.

Managed a total spend on food of £4.38 - and £2.50 of that was an ice cream at the end of a gloriously hot and sunny Easter Sunday at work!

Sadly what I've saved on food I've spent on petrol travelling to the parents'. Swings and roundabouts.

I've had to start watering the garden (although not in the last couple of days!!). And this got me thinking, about the amount of water I use, and more particularly the amount of water I waste. Whenever I have a shower or a bath, the water runs for quite a while before the hot water comes through. And I'm having to pay for that water. So tonight, after the gym, I put a bucket under the shower just to see how much was running away down the drain. I was seriously shocked - it pretty much filled the bucket. Will keep it, and use it for flushing the loo. For very many reasons (quite apart from the cost), I just don't like the idea of wasting that much water.
No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...
