No, because you wouldn't need them to drive and even if you did until the dvla are informed there's no marker.
That's my point but Tarambor appears to be suggesting that just because you may possess a pair of glasses the HGV folk will mark that you need glasses even if you don't need them for driving.

What offence are the points for?
Don't take this the wrong way but have you read this thread?

Or are you asking for the specific coding, in which case i imagine he wont know until it comes through the post.

And you don't have any idea, having read this thread, what offence the points may relate to?

    No idea at all?

Bearing in mind he proved he was insured
Bearing in mind the copper said it "doesn't matter any more" about the proof/non-proof of the road tax.
Bearing in mind he passed the drugs & alcohol swab test.

You have no idea at all what the points may relate to?

It's been suggested driving otherwise in accordance. I suspect it's driving with uncorrected vision.

I could tell "Bob" how to get away with zero points and no fine.

But given your attitude I'll pass.

    Pretty much, yes.

OP, get your friend to send in a note to DVLA with a copy of the note from the optician stating he does not in the opinion of that optician, need any sight correction for the purposes of driving. Get it on headed paper signed by the optician with his medical qualifications added.

On the question of the attitude of the copper, if it was as reported, I trust your friend did get the officer's lapel number? Report him. This won't necessarily get him off, but attitudes like this should be reported.

Other than that concentrate on getting the evidence to the DVLA to get the marker removed. Keep the original for himself in the event that he wants to challenge it in court.

Supplying the evidence to the police, if they are the ones prosecuting or the CPS might make it end on the basis of not being in the public interest which is the other test for prosecution.

Reading this thread made me check my licence. When i passed my test, i needed glasses, but due to cataract surgery, no longer do (other than for reading), so am glad that i only have 01 as it saves me a lot of hassle.

So according to your licence you need glasses/contact lenses to drive.

We've just spent 2 pages discussing how his '01' mark on his licence has caused the police to get upset with him & now he's looking at 3 points and a fine

And then this guy asks what the offence is.

Considering the only other possible offences have been checked off (insurance proved, no drugs, alcohol etc) i can't honestly believe that it is anything other than a trick question because the answer is obvious. Why spend 2 pages talking about wearing glasses/not wearing glasses if that isn't what the offence is?

As for this guys claim he can do whatever, we can all claim whatever we like, doesn't mean we can do it :)
