I'm a bit worried now as I have just bought one myself now too late to return to JL - oh well S75 should cover it if all else fails as it can be shown to be a manufacturing defect.

    hang on guys:

    1) the fault is well known, and its not just some bunch of random guys on the internet. lg are aware of this fault. the tv erpair guy said that they have seen this a lot with lg c7 oled panels. LG have admitted the exact mechanism that causes the fault, which is that the panels cool down too fast in the factory - therfore, it IS IMO a manufacturing fault, and its a ticking timebomb waiting to go off after 2000 hours of tv use.

    2) i forgot, they have been here twice already. they first sent an engineer to look at the fault (with a 4 hour window for arrival). then they ordered the parts and came back on monday. so im now up to 8 hours and they want me to spend yet another 4 hours. they did not offer to take the tv away on the first or second visit.

    3) i run my own business, yes. it is a call out based business. i cant indefinatley put off jobs that i have to do. everyone wants everything done immediately. the only other person i can get to wait in is my wife, who is employed. she would have to take holiday. i dont see that because i run my own business that i am able to take 12 hours off the road because JL have not fixed the problem.

    4) the link to look at is this one: the av forums link is the one i initially read. in it there is the link to the below:

Join AV Forum and post on there, as you will get a better response regarding the fault on there.

On this site you will get more info regards the S75 process but personally I would use AV Forums to get the technical info and then submit a S75 claim with the evidence (if you did use a CC of course).

It seems to be a fault at manufacture therefore existed when the TV was manufactured.
  • ok thanks - but just briefly, s75 is a credit card company attempt at a charge back? i spoke to my cc company yesterday and they said they could do a schedule something or other but i cant remember exactly what they said
  • ok, got it ....consumer credit act.

No, you don't have to tell them anything but just be aware, a section 75 claims does not mean you're automatically entitled to a full refund, it's simply that your have the same claim against the lender as you do against the retailer and as such they will be bound by the same consumer legislation, ie, you could end up with a partial refund.
