just out of interest - the fact that the panel clearly has had a defect since it was manufactured, and has only expressed it after the 2000 hour refresh - does that stand me in any stead?0
-
I don’t think Which? got it wrong. The paragraph you read and quoted is a summary of all the potential scenarios, which includes a full refund under some circumstances. Beneath that there are then more detailed explanations of pre- and post- six month outcomes, the latter of which talks about a refund of “up to 100%”.0

"If a repair or replacement is not possible, or the attempt at repair fails, or the first replacement also turns out to be defective, you have a further right to receive a refund of up to 100% of the price you paid, OR to reject the goods for a full refund."
that particular paragraph is massively unhelpful....
OR to reject the goods for a full refund0 -

ok, 17 months out of what though? its warrantied for 5 years. so 17 months out of 60?
is it based on the full price or the sale price?0 -
That I’m not totally sure about but I believe it’s based on the price you paid. That’s the value it held at the time of sale.
As for what it’s “out of”, it won’t be straight-line depreciation. In other words, if the expected life of a £1500 TV is five years and it’s packed up after one year, you won’t necessarily get £1200 back. You’ll get back what a one year old second-hand model of the same spec is worth. £500 maybe? Not sure.
In other words, they should give you enough to put you back in the position you were in when the TV packed up, ie. with a 17month old TV. Anything more would be betterment.0 -
ok, fair play - its not a question that can be answered by anyone except john lewis i suppose.
any idea how many days i have to wait around for them to fix the tv? im not making up the fact that it costs me 300 quid or so per half day to wait about for them - how many attempts do they get to try and fix it?0 -
As many as you want now. They’ve had their one chance and you can refuse any more and go down the refund route. Or you can let them keep trying.0
-
ok. but they are refusing me the refund route. they say that they havent finished fixing it yet0
