I think I'm probably going to have a fairly small number of AFDs for November and December. I've been keeping track of the number of drinks I have had for the year and it's up to 85. I know "drinks" is a fairly vague term and units is better, but I also knew I couldn't be bothered working out the units and that drinks is quite easy to keep track of. Thinking I might try to keep it under 100 drinks for the year as a rule of thumb from now on! It did include one trip abroad in March so I think it's probably workable even if life ever goes back to something resembling what it was before.

    Afternoon all,

Well I drank last night. The pub was sooooooo busy as people are trying to cram in social occasions that i decided I would have a drink after all when we finished. I had 4 double swedish pear vodkas with soda, with a sprig of mint and some leftover strawberry coulis from the kitchen. Today i feel rubbish and got up late as well. Its reminded me that actually, alcohol is really a poison to me and my body HATES it. Prior to Stoptober i was getting through about 4 boxes of Rennies or Gaviscon per week due to the acid reflux caused in part by vomitting from alcohol several times per week. Only after a "break" away from alcohol can i see the lunacy of what i was doing to myself.

Thank you all for your input and encouragement. Glad that you've read "Dry" as well Cathy. The part that resonated largely with me was a chapter where he has an important presentation to do at work the next morning but he meets up with a friend for "a drink". Before he knows it he is looking up blurry eyed at a clock in the street which is at 4.20AM and he is due in work at 8am. This has been me to a T.
Opportunities i've annihilated have been endless.

So, it is the 4th November and I am going to call in early for tonight. I'm on the bar with partner tonight as pub kitchen is closed. I have had a strong reminder "WHY" i shouldn't drink. Good luck to everyone struggling today. 3/26 please.

    Manpants.
