    Morning All
Thank you to everyone for taking the time to congratulate me on "Stoptober". November's here so time to crack on again. Without the "safety net" of Stoptober - which provided me with an excellent reason to justify not drinking - it will be a bit tougher now. Customers and Friends are finding it "ODD" that i haven't finished "Stoptober" and immediately poured myself the largest beer followed by something else. I don't know about any of you, but do you find yourself having to give a reason why you're not drinking?
Regardless, yesterday was 1/26 AF please Cathybird.

Calling in early for tonight 2/26 please.

  • I'm fat, 54 and I don't want to die any time soon is justification enough for me.
Nothing to see here, move along.

Good morning. I'm 1/25 for yesterday please cathybird. Thank you. X
I agree Manpants, it is much easier for people to accept when you are doing Dry January, Stopover or similar. It is a finite period and they support you in that but then expect things to go back to 'normal'😕.  I just say I am reducing alcohol for my health. There is a proven link between long term excess alcohol intake and dementia and that worries me😟
I have not, and do not intend to, give up drinking altogether but these days I am selective about when I do so.
Good luck with November, particularly with the coming closure of pubs and bars. It may remove the need to field customer comments about why you're not drinking but I'm sure it won't be easy from a business perspective. X

Sorry MP, my last paragraph assumed you were in England, that may not be the case😊X
  • Declaring early for 2/20 for today as it’s Monday and I’m feeling positive about the new week/month. I was reading somewhere that if the earlier lockdown was about baking bread, running and probably drinking too much on zoom calls, this ‘Lockdown 2.0’ is more about hibernating, early nights and cups of tea - which sounds delightful to me and what I’m going to try and focus on.

Totally agree Manpants, some people are difficult when it comes to not drinking and refuse to believe it’s possible - I often find I get derailed by planned nights out where I know I’m going to ‘have’ to drink, so I think ‘well I may as well have one tonight’ 🤷‍♀️

Probably many of us on here have been known for copious drinking amongst friends and family,  so when we want to stop/cut down we feel the need to explain. I don't really have a problem with that . I tend to use driving or the need to keep a clear head or empty calories as a reason. The problem arises when people try to persuade you otherwise. In those cases I think it's their problem rather than yours. They probably know that they're drinking too much as well and feel uncomfortable that  you're showing some of the resolve they can't find. That's my theory. 😉🤔

I have a planned drinking day on Wednesday as we've decided to celebrate DD's November birthday early while we can meet up.
Back on the wagon today though.

    1/10 AFDs please Cathy
