Giving up/ Cutting Down Alcohol Thread Part 16

I hadn’t thought about annual AFD’s and I don’t want to set a target for next year. However. I have counted back and I am on 345 AFD’s for 2020. I only drank on 20 occasions in the whole year. That figure is hugely helped by the 6-months plus dry run I had over the spring and summer. As cathybird rightly says this is definitely not a competition. For me personally though it is progress. Over the last three years I have moderated my drinking significantly, cutting back drastically on the number of drinking days. More meaningful for me still is the fact that I haven’t been ‘proper drunk’ for a longer time than that, probably going back to 2013 was the last occasion I can remember. Moderate and manageable drinking is something that at one time seemed just plain implausible. That it no longer seems like an aspiration beyond my reach is down in very large part to this thread, the people who have run it over the last few years and the people who contribute. Thank you all. It has helped me more than you know.
