Giving up/ Cutting Down Alcohol Thread Part 16

I will reread some of the old stuff but it's touch and go between Maman and I. The same year I expect. I was interested to see how many of the earliest Thread 1 posters are still on MSE now - quite a few! I do remember MollyPolly and her whip with great fondness, and Winebox who had a hilarious sense of humour. Before we tracked our numbers it used to be a lot more chattering about stuff. I think the thread has evolved enormously since then. Then again Maman is much more of a consistent star on here, I've always tried to act as a low bar others can feel confident about exceedingcathybird said:
WBF, I guess that means you're probably the person who has been posting the longest? ... Barny I think has also been around on the thread for many years, in addition to maman. I'm relatively new, think it was the end of 2016 when I joined.Wanna_Bee_Free said:Wow, I can't sleep and I just had a total blast from the past looking back at part of the first thread I was on, back in 2008. Can't believe it's 12 years that this thread has been part of my life. When the forum changes happened earlier this year I thought about leaving and it was you lovely people who I stayed for, even though there is less other chat on here it is such a lovely, supportive thread. I keep meaning to go back and add up my annual totals again to see what my overall trend is. I know I don't hit the huge numbers some of you do but I'm happy to be averaging at least 2 nights each week AF and when I found this thread I never had a day off. Thanks everyone!

It's hard to say, isn't it, but it took me loads of tries to get my drinking down to a reasonable level (though it did start to happen as soon as I joined this thread), and I think loads of tries is probably a common experience, so if people only stay for a short time maybe it's one of their "tries"? ... Actually there have probably been a few lurkers over the years who have never posted a word but for all we know the thread might have helped them too! I hope so.marahouti said:I wonder how many people have been helped by this thread even if they only stay for a short time?

Oh that's great to hear they're still around! I wonder why they stopped posting over the years? ... WBF, how interestingWanna_Bee_Free said:

12 for me please. At the low end of af days this month. Despite promises to myself. It’s been a few weeks since I posted.I’ve been using MSE for at least 20 years but set up a new profile for this thread. So I think I joined as Cuppa in about 2010. I’ll check. However I’ve not posted as regularly as Maman and WBF, even having a few years off at one point.Live for the moment and plan for the future4
