Happy belated birthday Cathybird 🥂🍾🎂. Hope you have enjoyed your celebration with friends.
  • Happy birthday cathybird! Hope you had a lovely time.
  • I've not had a drink all week so I'm now on day 4/8, this is the easy end of the week but at least we are over the wednesday hump to the weekend. I have been experimenting with different drink, I've been doing the hot orange squash. I have to ring up the dentist which I'm quite worried about ( I hate the dentist and try to avoid going ) this is usually where a few drinks comes in to play so I'm having a hot orange. o:)
Nothing to see here, move along.

  • Happy birthday

Just a quick one before going to bed, on a Thursday I usually have a beer with my father in law. Can anyone recommend a decent alcohol free lager so I can still have a beer?

Thanks Coveredinbees :) I've never liked beer but Honey Bear, who used to be a regular on this thread, swore by B*cks Bl*e :)

Wow, I can't sleep and I just had a total blast from the past looking back at part of the first thread I was on, back in 2008. Can't believe it's 12 years that this thread has been part of my life. When the forum changes happened earlier this year I thought about leaving and it was you lovely people who I stayed for, even though there is less other chat on here it is such a lovely, supportive thread. I keep meaning to go back and add up my annual totals again to see what my overall trend is. I know I don't hit the huge numbers some of you do but I'm happy to be averaging at least 2 nights each week AF and when I found this thread I never had a day off. Thanks everyone!
  • @cathybird - belated birthday wishes! 🎂 I'm glad you had a lovely time 😊
Yesterday was my 2nd AF day 🙌 although I managed one on Monday, it was enforced due to my need to drive - and therefore pretty easy as not a 'normal' evening for me anyway; yesterday's was just me deciding that I wasn't going to so I'm feeling pretty proud of myself! 😉 I have to admit though that it was a lot harder than I expected it to be - because I knew I wasn't going to drink yesterday, I spent a lot of the day thinking about it 🙈 It felt more like when I have given up smoking previously- it makes me think that psychologically, I've got scarily close to dependent. That has come as a real shock but it's also given me the kick up the backside that I obviously needed and made me even more determined to complete a full month off it in November 😉
