Giving up/ Cutting Down Alcohol Thread Part 16

Thanks everyone for your kind wishes - it was an emotional day but I am glad it is all over now and I can move on - not sure what yet but have some ideas mulling around in my head.
Declaring early for today on 8/10 please cathybird.4 -
Good morning everyone 🌧️.
16/21 for yesterday please cathybird. X
I invariably declare on the following morning. My reasoning is that I want to have the sort of relationship with alcohol where I might not drink for a while or even think about it but if a social opportunity or joyful piece of news happens I will have a drink guilt free. I don't want to say on this forum: "I know I said I wasn't going to drink but actually......"
Now my relationship with alcohol is way more complicated than that and I think about it far too much but knowing that I almost certainly won't drink today but I could is helpful. Whatever works, we are all on similar journeys. X

Morning Everyone,
I'm calling in early for tonight. I'm actually on the bar tonight which invariably means i will get drinks bought for me by customers but as long as i concentrate and don't weaken i will be fine. So many "fresh" headed mornings in a row!! Have to say I'm rather enjoying them.

That's roughly how I feel too marahouti. I suppose (particularly at the moment with lockdown😉) the chances of a sudden opportunity to socialise are more predictable. The day's when I don't post until late or the following morning are when I think I might fancy a drink or we're going out for lunch and I haven't decided yet. Perhaps I should plan a Boris Burger or a Rishi Risotto for next week! 😁marahouti said:I invariably declare on the following morning. I actually have no problem with changing my mind ... have always just come on here and said "changed my mind, drinking after all"! But in that case it's a conscious choice I guess, rather than a situation where I just gave in to temptation, which is perhaps more what you are describing Marahouti? ... You strike me as someone who's got firm control over drinking, btw, but I get where you are coming from with thinking about it a lot.marahouti said:Good morning everyone 🌧️.

ManPants, that must be tough, trying to withstand customers buying drinks for you!ManPants said:Morning Everyone,

We have indeed lost the ability to do the red typeface, though it's still possible using HTML but it's a faff. I wish they'd bring it back, it was very useful!
