No drinking here today
1/3 for the SNC and 8/14 please Shaggy.0 -
I can't pretend it's easy but the hardest part is the lack of anticipation and getting past wine o'clock. Once I'd had dinner and then settled down on the sofa with a cuppa I was fine.
9/10 AFDs please Shaggy
That’s what I find maman if I can get past eating my dinner I am fine. It’s the sinking feeling I get mid afternoon that I’m not going to have a drink I find difficult.
3/15 for yesterday please.Total weight lost 6.5/73lbs starting yet again. Afds August 10/15. /8 Sept.0 -
3/20 please but struggling to be honest. I very nearly caved and bought a bottle of wine tonight despite being shattered and knowing the combination of booze and exhaustion is abad one. Must keep going.
But you didn't, so well done. It's those moments when we resist resist resist that we make the difference to our lives, and they do get easier simply because you know you did it last time, so you can do it this time.Maggi - we all have times like that ,,, I’ve been rather stupid and started having the odd cigarette,,, but I know it’s a slippery slope back to full on smoking ,,, so I need to have word with myself and stop it soon!
I do however feel that smoking won’t make me depressed, angry , argumentative, fall over or do something I would later regret,, so at the moment I’m not going to beat myself up too much ,,,
I’ve had many years of being a non smoker so I’m used to not having the fags in my life ,,, it’s the wine I should be missing , but at the moment I don’t !
I’m really not sure all that makes sense!
It all makes complete sense, Love a Sale. My Go-To vice is chocolate now, but it's all a replacement thing to avoid the urges of something that's seriously difficult to resist - see above. I'm still stuck wondering why a carrot stick doesn't have sufficient pull to take the sting out of stopping putting something that doesn't do my body a bit of good into it, but it just doesn't. I gave up smoking countless times and always went back to it by allowing myself one occasionally, then a couple sometimes and everyone who's been through it knows the rest of the story.
Except the last time. The last time I stopped, cold turkey, then after a week had an incredibly stressful evening, smoked like a beagle, stopped again; had a couple of puffs one night about 18 months later and fell over because the nicotine high really messed with my head and I've never smoked or even been tempted since. I do, however, very occasionally, get a whiff of someone else smoking and it smells divine to me, although most of the time it smells a lot less pleasant.
You have to get through this any way you can, and it's a very individual thing. I'm not going to add to the stress levels by saying anything you already know. Good luck with it; you've knocking the drinking on the head and you're doing brilliantly.
19/30 please, Shaggy.Better is good enough.0 -

Thanks for posting that. I'm glad it's not just me.:)
I think we all like something to look forward to and it's hard when that's taken away. I know it's helped me to visualise how relaxing it will be to have finished for the day and be able to settle down comfortably...and have a cup of tea!
I'm planning to be out and driving tonight so definitely no drinking. That's another habit I've worked on. I used to plan on opening a bottle when I got home but now I just make straight for the kettle.:)
10/10 AFDs please Shaggy0 -

Love a Scandi Noir too and adore West Wing. We own the West Wing box set on dvd.....it's great to have a rewatch every now and again. We might have missed it but there hasn't really been a good Scandi Noir for awhile now. We used to enjoy Spin - the French political drama - too. What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again.
