Well done Barny on your 10k and deciding against the beers :T. What film did you see? I hope there wasn't too much 'tippling' in it. X

    Hi Honeybear,

Sorry my quip wasn't clear. It was just about you being delighted by the apparent newness of Spiral, nothing more than that. Knowing how much being AF has been great for you it just tickled me there was one teeny good point to your not remembering the series.

That makes so much sense! Sorry I couldn't get my head around your comment.

To be strictly truthful while I was doing it I loved drinking in the same way I loved smoking. I knew they were doing me no favours and in the end a lot of harm, but one of the things I minded about giving up the booze was that the absolute thorough reveling in the freedom being drunk on Sod It nights used to give me. It was something I thought I'd miss but it wasn't, in reality - that was the high from the booze. I did feel a pang that there was something I used to enjoy that I couldn't do any more about the booze, but never about smoking, rather oddly. That was very much 'when it's gone it's gone for good, just totally over' for me. None of that really belongs with your comment but it's something I've come to realise about the good and bad bits of booze in my case. Other people might react very differently.

OH and I have now also realised it's probably worth re-watching all the Scandi Noirs we really kind of enjoyed because of the Spiral Series 1 and 2 experience and to go back even further, probably worth rewatching all seven series of West Wing, too! So yes, having loved them all for years and years, because we're now sober we get to re-enjoy them again - hurrah! As you say, one of the positives of being as !!!!!! as a f@rt for a decade or more ;) :rotfl:.

Delighted to find that OH and are not alone in our love of BBC4's Saturday night treasures. Thank's everyone for 'fessing up about our secret vice!

    18/30 please, Shaggy.
    Better is good enough.

3/20 please but struggling to be honest. I very nearly caved and bought a bottle of wine tonight despite being shattered and knowing the combination of booze and exhaustion is abad one. Must keep going.
  • Maggi - we all have times like that ,,, I’ve been rather stupid and started having the odd cigarette,,, but I know it’s a slippery slope back to full on smoking ,,, so I need to have word with myself and stop it soon!
I do however feel that smoking won’t make me depressed, angry , argumentative, fall over or do something I would later regret,, so at the moment I’m not going to beat myself up too much ,,,
I’ve had many years of being a non smoker so I’m used to not having the fags in my life ,,, it’s the wine I should be missing , but at the moment I don’t !
I’m really not sure all that makes sense!

I can't pretend it's easy but the hardest part is the lack of anticipation and getting past wine o'clock. Once I'd had dinner and then settled down on the sofa with a cuppa I was fine.

    No drinking today.

    9/10 AFDs please Shaggy
