Wavered a bit this week as I bought some drinks to put away in storage for later in the year, then inevitably as I was doing so, a very persuasive voice started whispering in my ear about how it was a hot evening, you’ve been at work all day, you deserve it, just one or two won’t hurt surely. But I’m glad to say I shut down that internal dialogue and locked the bottles away, where they are going to stay until the winter.
12/31 thank you.
Best wishes to Arkers and arsenalbarnie for next week.0 -
Thank you again for the good wishes.
Arkers I was in the 8 week cancer thing too but yes waiting for a ct scan was just too long so I got it done within the week privately. NHS where I live still couldn’t guarantee me the op within the 30 days following the result of that so that’s when I thought no. We have a big family and OH will think nothing of paying for everyone to go away like we did at Christmas. I am more careful with money, that’s why we’re still solvent! But this time I thought s*d it he can pay as he has spent more on holidays. My DD also said you would pay it if it was one of the dogs. I think I have to P*tplan over the past 12 years for two woofers :rotfl:
Am awake again early, still counting down and obsessed with getting the house sorted before. I am not allowed to lift, push or pull anything for 12 weeks eek. I am someone who never sits still so will be interesting.

Totally understand, and I am sending positive vibes and hugs. I hope you get a good result from your surgery and become pain free and are able to move forward with your recovery. I wish I was motivated to blitz the house instead I'm sitting here drinking tea!!
It's a miracle, I've had my first Friday off for a while, and I intend to be good for the rest of the weekend. It hasn't stopped my DH chugging on everything and anything. I still find this very difficult to deal with, as I like nothing more than a cold beer on a warm summers evening. However, went to bed early and read my book.
Not long now Arsenal two more sleeps, I for one will be glad when it's done are you having to stay in? It looks like it'll be an over night stay for me, but that's fine.
10 please Shaggy

good morning everyone!
all my very best to you arkers and arsenalbarnie.
9/25, please Shaggy. I'm hoping for an good AF stretch from now on as I won't be going away again until the end of the month. I would like to say that I have got my alcohol consumption under control but I still managed to down a bottle of wine at the beginning of the month and gave myself a hangover. Best to stay clear!0 -

Well done for resisting temptation Season of Mist. Each and every time is a victory, a bit of self-denial that we can and should take strength from. Each time you do it, it gets easier - I promise. That little voice, 'One won't hurt' is liar - we all know we don't stop after one glass, we're far more likely to stop after one bottle, and even then I couldn't always rely on myself to do that.
The rationing of healthcare by controlling access to GP appointments and diagnostic tests is a political decision. I never fail to be impressed at how dedicated nearly all of the people I've ever met in the health service are, and I worked in it myself for five years. Everyone knocks administrators, as if an operation could go ahead without someone rostering the staff in the theatre, the cleaner who made it usable, the maintenance person who fixed the ventilation system and the secretary who sent out the letter that called the patient in for their operation etc etc etc. I heart each and every single one of them for all going further than their job description and pay packet requires of them. And thank you to everyone who does go private for anything - the more than people do, the shorter the waiting list for those that can't afford that option. I wish no-one had to, but that's never been the case and I suspect it never will be.I still find this very difficult to deal with, as I like nothing more than a cold beer on a warm summers evening. However, went to bed early and read my book.
Thank goodness for laptops with iplayer on them, suduko books and Radio 4, BBC Sounds or ipods, and good books generally. Without all of them how would anyone entertain themselves by going to bed early when the call of a cold beer (or G&T, or red wine) be resisted? I still go to bed early five years later and I LOVE IT!
13/31 please, Shaggy. Oooh, a palindrome number - my favourite.Better is good enough.0 -
