Strange how we're all different. I loathe sleeping in a completely dark room. It makes me feel claustrophobic. I'm not one of those that needs a light on (hate that too) but we have pale, cream unlined curtains in the bedroom.:)
Oh wow! That would drive me nuts lol! Especially in the summer around the solstice when it hardly gets dark...What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -

arsenalbarnie wrote: »Honey bear the snoring never usually wakes me up but yes as not sleeping well I hear it. However last two nights have slept really well and when I was awake he was so quiet I wondered if he was alive! I usually get up and go in the other room and leave him to it. I know am a soft touch and should make him get out of bed, but he is such a stress bucket he would make such a big deal out of it. He has a bad back and is always scared his disc is going to slip again. Should be doing loads of exercises but doesn’t and walks round oh woe is me and sitting in all the wrong positions. He is awful at the moment. I feel like crowning him sometimes. He tells me you don’t know what it’s like. I do know I am having a big op on Monday and haven’t bl**dy moaned about it once! I expect after one day of doing all the chores he will have hired a housekeeper before the week is out. He has physio today, hope she can sort him out a bit, he is standing all crooked at the moment . Sorry to go on, I think he is peeing me off so much at the moment, I am looking forward to going into hospital for a break!
On the wine front have had 3 glasses two nights on the trot. Naughty I know. Tonight will be af, Friday won’t, it’s his birthday so out for lunch, then cinema and a couple of friends are coming round in the evening. I will have to be super angelic. I have decided not to drink at lunch or will sleep through the film. A couple of glasses with friends in the evening. Then it’s non all weekend ready for Monday.
So 4/16 please Shaggy.
Frankly I'd be tempted to boot the self-centered !!!!!! out of bed, after drinking a full bottle on top of a decent G&T to get the evening going. Every night!
You're doing amazingly and I have absolutely zero sympathy for him. You deserve a rest in hospital - if they offer you anything to help you sleep I recommend you grab it with both hands because it's can be difficult to sleep on a busy ward and they offer it because they know it helps people. And you'll get all your food delivered to your bed - I hope it's one of the hospitals where they've been introducing new, higher, food standards. (((Hugs))) You can always take something like chocolate in, if you think you're going to need cheering up after surgery. Selfcare and all that.
11/31 please, Shaggy.Better is good enough.0 -
Good afternoon everyone,
8 please Shaggy
Pre-op all done and dusted this morning. Magseed (relatively new thing) implanted to assist surgeon to locate the tumor.
I liken this to a dog micro-chip, but smaller. It's clever stuff, and no need to put in wires like they used to. Roll on Monday hey AB.

6/18 and 5 SNC almost there for a smiley!
Arsenalbarnie - think you are saint like not to boot him out of bed especially when you are understandably thinking about Monday. I, and lots of us I am sure will be thinking about you.
Arkers thinking about you too.0 -
Ahh thanks everyone. I was an only child until I was 19 and have always been a bit of a pushover. I blame it on never having any siblings to argue with, I hate arguing. My cousins used to laugh at me as I would always do as I was told. I should put my foot down a bit more I know. As for the hospital my OH has paid for the op as the NHS were making me wait too long, like next month probably when it could be malignant. We have dipped into the emergency fund so will be concentrating on filling that back up again when recovered. I would happily have waited if it was definitely benign, but my mental health is suffering big time. After two good nights sleep, Mrs anxiety has returned and been awake half the night. So have decided absolutely no alcohol now even if it is his birthday.
Happy birthday Barny

Wow that sounds clever. My friend had bc 12 years ago and I can’t remember if they put wires in then, but she had to have another op as they hadn’t quite removed it all. So the microchip thing must make it all the more accurate. It’s amazing what they come up with. Am having catheter things put in around my wound releasing local anaesthetic for pain relief. It’s all very different to when I was a nurse in the 80’s!Total weight lost 6.5/73lbs starting yet again. Afds August 10/15. /8 Sept.0
