  • Hi guys - I'm not really around much any more and selling on Amazon has taken a back seat so I'm sort of resigning from the thread so BGs please feel free to edit and add whatever you want to the opening posts I'm sure that there is lots that needs an update by now.

 Sad to see you go AT!! I hope that your lack of amazon selling is a good thing, but we will be sorry to not have you around any more. Boo Hoo! Thanks for all your support and for getting me started. I owe my business to you. Thanks

  • Have now sold our house at last so celebrating - the place we were buying though has been withdrawn from sale as she changed her mind!

So celebrating personal best in November on Amazon, selling the house (exchanged yesterday) and my tumour was benign. Got to be good huh?

Its that goddess of karma, she gets it right once in a while ;)

Good news on the tumour (think i missed you telling us about that) and the house, sounds like a happy christmas in the boston house !!

I had the biggest pay out in a looong time but sales steady, havent sold my old faithful penny books in a while so doing the same work for more cash, always a good way to be !!

  • Think I might have the selling fairy at my house. 4 books in 7 days- 3 of those in the last 24 hours. Unfortuneatley not big bucks ones but it all counts.
    April £5 a day challenge- £15.05/£150
  • Great news all round Boston:j . I'm sure it will be a very happy Christmas in the Boston household this year:beer:

My Amazon sales have done nothing, maybe because I've only just dipped my toe in the water with selling there and only have 10 books listed:rolleyes: . But GreenMet has gone bonkers this week. Sold 4 books yesterday and 3 today. Although I'm really grateful for the money I'll never understand why anyone in their right mind would pay £3.75(including postage/admin etc) for a very ordinary paperback that they could probably find in a charity shop or car boot sale for 20p:confused: . Oh well, long may it continue!

Good luck everyone with your pre-Christmas sales
  • Hi everyone

    I have two questions

The first one is - how/when did you decide to go pro-merchant?
I went pro-merchant when they had their half price offer earlier in the year but I didn't sell enough to make it worthwhile so I cancelled. At that point I had less than 500 listed.

I now have over 1000 listed (and adding more eachy week) and from 1/11 - 30/11 I have sold 29 books so it would be worth my while but this leads on to my next question which is has anyone noticed their sales slowing down in December.

My train of thought for this is that people will be buying brand new books as presents and also concentrating on Xmas so there money will be going here instead of buying used books.

    Any opinions gratefully received

My sales have gone crazy, 11 books this weekend alone where I would normally only sell 1 or maybe 2 at best. I've sold some really odd stuff as well, tatty childrens paperbacks for a couple of quid that I;'ve had listed for well over a year.

Eagrer_Elephant, I went pro when it was half price as well and I have always just about staggered to the 30 books a month target I need to break even. Some months have been better though and I have never yet fallen below that 30 books a month target. I am expecting January to be bad though, but will keep on my pro status as I could not face all the relisting.

I have approx 1200 books listed. I don't do much in the way of 1p books, maybe the odd couple where they are very high in the rankings and likely to sell almost immediately.

there was talk - or at least an online survey thing on the RM site about printing postage and a non stampable POP list to save time at the PO ... you just dropped the post in and didn't have to get anything stamped - anyone know anything more about that?

i tried it and for the first time 3 items didnt arrive!!!!

in theory great idea but im now to wary might have been a coincidence and it was just after the postage strke but put me off

No not the one you do now which you have to get stamped - it was a new idea they were toying with introducing and getting views on - same sort of thing but the addresses would be recorded somehow and you didn't need to get the thing stamped at the PO. It didn't give details, just asking if folks would be interested if they introduced it. Survey isnt running now .....
