  • Well you've inspired me to have a go at this! Just checked 3 books i know are lurking in my spare room having been bought new and read once and the cheapest was listed at £4.32 for a poor condition one!

Going to have a bit of a sort out and list a few to see what happens. I'm just kicking myself as I gave two huge boxes of books to a charity shop last week, I'm sure they were probably all 1p books.

If they sell in the end and I make a little bit I'll be happy! although I have always harboured an ambition to own a bookshop!

I'll prob be back in the next few days with some stupid questions

We all started with many stupid questions (and I still ask some now!!) so no worries. Good luck - you will soon have far more on your for sale list than you ever intended, it's very addictive. I started with a few I had lurking now I have nearly 1400 listed!! not sure how that happened!!

    Hi Guys

I'm hoping you can answer a question I have about proof of postage. I use about 3 different post offices and they all seem to have different ways of providing this. The one that I am worried about is one where they give me the receipt and then tell me to write the postcode on there myself. They don't stamp this unless I kick up a fuss. Others write the number / postcode on themsleves and stamp it. Would my unstamped one in my handwriting stand up as POP if I had to claim it back? I don't want to get really sour every time I visit the one where they don't stamp it and also as its the most convenient I'd rather keep going there if what they are doing is OK? Any thoughts?
  • Hi redcar

Ask for a free pad (P326) of them and do it yourself before you go - the PO will stamp it - make sure you keep the receipt as you need both to make a claim.

Hmm does this mean that ones where they do the writing on the receipt for me but don't stamp it are not valid? I've never worried about that as I think well at least its not in my handwriting.
  • No, they should be OK but it just saves time when queuing if you write them on the pad before you go - mine just stamps it and gives it me back
  • Mine now say they are getting rid of the pad ones, i always request a printed POP anyway as this has the amount I paid and i use this for my records.

Dont worry about requesting what you need, they provide a service and *most* just need asking. You get the odd jobsworth giving you a scowl like you are wasting their time, but i always find a quick conversation and little hint dropping about the PO closures always reminds them of their job. Done in the nicest way of course ;)

Having said all that in nigh on 300 sales Ive never had a package go missing or had to make a claim so dont stress tooooo much :)

  • there was talk - or at least an online survey thing on the RM site about printing postage and a non stampable POP list to save time at the PO ... you just dropped the post in and didn't have to get anything stamped - anyone know anything more about that?
