Savingmore. I do find it easier to break it down into a series of monthly targets. I started out at 13st 10lbs. And it took just over a year to get down to 11st. (Now crept back up to 11st4.7lb).

I think if I had thought of my journey in terms of almost 4 stones to lose I would have been overwhelmed and would have lost heart. I found breaking it down into smaller "chunks" kept me motivated.

I also celebrated each little success with a non edible treat. A hair cut, something nice to wear (usually from a chazzer) a bunch of flowers. Nothing expensive but just a little something to jolly me along.

Just polished off the last of the Stilton for lunch. Only a small piece so hopefully not too much damage done.

I am actually not going to get back on to actual WW point counting until Monday but I'm using this first few days to get back into healthier eating in general. For me that means full paleo and drastically reduced dairy. So now the posh cheese is all finished.

    Today's menu..,,,

Brunch....low fat bacon medallions, mushrooms and tomatoes, eggs
Dinner......low fat sausage, cauli mash, green beans and parsnips
    Supper ....raspberries and cream
Snacks.....Stilton, couple of crackers, clementines, grapes

8 portions of fruit and veg. :D

Back on it! New job started, and back to packed lunches.

I am up to 13 8! Highest the scales have ever seen. Basically put a stone on since my injury in Oct. Hoping to get back to 13 by the end of the month.

I'm going to wait till Monday - it might not be as bad then! :rotfl:

Hope you have a good week!
  • I won’t be able to weigh until i get home next week. expecting to need to lose 10lbs. a friend just recommended the fast metabolism book and diet. she is 59 and got stuck in her weight and tried everything she knew. followed this religiously and it worked for her and husband. just bought book for less than three pounds on amazon including postage. will have a look.

Hi everyone......I'm not doing that great either.....still struggling with my lurgy. Not counting WW points but trying to eat well.

Not the best start to the new year for any of us by the sound of it.....never mind, just remember it's a marathon, not a sprint.

We can do this.....it might just take a while. :rotfl:

Well disappointing to say the least.

Popped myself on the scale and discovered I have now regained 6lbs.

So it's back on it today.

At least my tummy seems a bit more settled so no excuses now. :rotfl:

    Back to business.

I haven't dared to brave the scales yet, I have walked more than 10 000 steps every day this week thanks to the new fitbit and swum for an hour doing 60 lengths - I also discovered the thingy on the fitbit that says how many floors you've climbed in a day so that motivated me to go up and down the stairs many more times than usual to see if it registered :rotfl::rotfl:

But I'm still polishing off the cheese and chocolates from Xmas! :(

Lost 3lbs this week, just by making packed lunches and cutting back. Still not at pre accident weight, but feeling a little more comfortable in my trousers.

Been walking quite a bit and bought walking boots and socks today as I have finally signed up to a challenge walk in May. 25km. Hoping an increase in exercise will help the weight loss as tbh it is tough after 40 to do it on dieting alone.

Well done Drawingaline that's a really good start!

I know what you mean about it being harder after 40!!

At least the weather should start to improve soon and the days get longer so better for walking! Keep it up!

    Hi everyone....

DAL. Well done....that's brilliant.:T. Yes I agree I do think it's harder to shift those extra lbs as you get older. That's why when I hit 67 and was carrying a surplus 3 stones I decided it was now or never because I was putting half a stone or so on every couple of years. I had visions of me being in a wheelchair by the time I was in my 70s.

I would watch very large people struggling with their daily lives, lack of mobility, ill health etc and, Without being unkind or judgemental, I did wonder how much of their difficulties was down to the fact that they were probably at least 5 stones overweight.

I felt that could easily be me if I didn't get a grip and I was determined that that would not be my future. Thankfully I think I've turned that corner now, my blood sugars are better and even though I still have arthritis my knees are a lot better now.

I am now at 11st 4lbs, now technically no longer overweight (I was creeping into the obese range:eek:). I think that at 5ft 6 I would like to get down to 10st 7lb, then see how I look and feel. I don't want to get too "scraggy".

When I was in my prime I was 5ft 7 and 9st exactly. I think that would be too thin now. I think being a little heavier is better as you get older.

I once remember Joan Collins saying something that as we age we have to choose between our face and our hips/waistline. Better to carry a little extra so,our faces don't get that drawn, haggard look that sometimes happens when we are too thin.

Anyway I'll see how it goes. I would like to reach my target by Easter. It's slow but hopefully it will be steady and consistent.
