Thank you Dawn maybe thats it i am careful and try to keep a track of the usual prices but they must be creeping up! I will see how far this weeks shopping lasts me because usually i am popping out for extras for dds linch box because dd and ih have eaten them over the weekend so in my big shop i did double up on some things i usually run out of first x0

Food prices are rising, but surprisingly not very quickly given current uncertainty in the supply chain.0

Morning all :hello:
Hopefully a quiet weekend here and low key so low spend. It looks a bit like this:
Small shop post meal plan which happened after veg box dropped
Get up to date with washing and a bit of homework
Make some biscuits/cake
Smalls to prepaid activity
Something out of freezer for tea
Check banking/credit card
Film night, gave cheap popcorn
Get new washing line out so I can peg out
Go for a run
Have a good one folks.0 -
Had a spendy day yest food shopping came in £15 over budget but i have thought and maybe i need to expand ny shopping bill to around £70 ler week i know it sounds a lot but thats for 2 adults 1 child a dog and rabbit we all have packed lunches everyday and so 3 meals a day i have tried to get it down but i am seriously struggling to!! But i will keep trying to bring it down.
I budget £2.50 per person per day. This is for food, drink, snacks, takeaways, meals out, cleaning materials, toiletries, OTC medications. Any under spend I roll over to the next month so we can stock up.
Is it worth considering having a separate budget for the pets? We don't have any pets so I have no idea how much their food costs a month.
We meal plan which helps a lot to reduce food waste.
We do most of our shopping at Aldi and else where for a couple of things we like which they don't sell.
Today dd has decided to make biscuits, we have all the ingredients in.
List for Saturday:
NSD
PAD
Pmp etc
Make contribution to tonights faith supper
Make bread
Make porridge
Stick to the meal plan
B/L from stores
Dinner we are going to a faith supper to celebrate a friend's birthday (one of the big ones)
Home educate the children for free
Wrap dd birthday presents
Invite family to birthday meal on Monday
Decide what cake I'm baking her and work out when I'm baking it
For some family entertainment today I would like to play some games together, I'm not sure we will have time.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases
One income, home educating family0 -
Morning all

Sun has appeared, which always cheers me up
OH has gone to an auction with DS (dread to think what they will come back with, but I have warned OH about wasting money on carp just because it is cheap!) He did spend, but only on things he will use rather than random carp :T
Today's small things:
Washed up, emptied bin, put recycling out and cleared kitchen a bit
Put a very stale scone and a mouldy muffin out for the birds. I try to avoid food waste, but at least the birds are enjoying it!
Got banana bread in oven (at last!) Used Mary Berry's recipe https://www.bbc.com/food/recipes/banana_and_chocolate_74784 Yum!
Had a banana for breakfast (I was given an extra bag at the market the other day, now got to use them!)
Covered young spinach and chard plants up with fleece because they are being eaten, by pigeons I think  Done
Listed an item on ebay - may try to motivate myself to list a couple more! Managed 3 :T
Water any seedlings that need it Done
Sow some more seeds, calendula today I think
Done
Also tried some parsnip and beetroot in modules. Not tried this before, but they sell them in the garden centre, so decided to try
Sowed some radishes in a bare patch in the raised bed.
Walk dog later Done
Remember to give DS the herb plants I have potted up for his lovely GF Done
All food from home, no plans to spend anything today. Done
DD will probably bring the little ones round and I won't get much done at all :rotfl:She didn't, so I actually got quite a lot done, for a change!

Thoroughly enjoyed my curry last night. I went for a veggie one (always cheaper than a meaty one), and naan bread rather than rice (freezing then re-heating rice can be dangerous, due to mould growth - it's not worth the risk). Total spend was £8.15 (£5.95 for the curry, £2.20 for the naan) - I walked to pick it up, so no charge for delivery. Half is now in the freezer, so last night's meal only cost £4.07. And I felt like I'd had a proper treat!! Add a glass of something alcoholic from the stores (I'm on the port at the moment!), and it felt like a party.
This morning I've tackled another wall in the garage. I reckon I'm half way round - trouble is, everything is stacked against the wall I haven't done yet, so I need to do some major moving of stuff before I can get to that wall! That's earmarked for this afternoon (once this morning's paint has dried).
I have some paperwork to do - that'll take me to lunchtime, then cheese on toast followed by fruit for lunch - then back to the garage. My aim is to get the unpainted wall at least visible!! Not planning on doing any prep, just getting to a point where prep is possible will be an achievement.
Ex is coming round tomorrow morning to help with a couple of jobs. The split is amicable, and he's suggested I use his car (while mine is waiting to be fixed) for anything I need a car for - very good of him, and I already have a list of jobs (Asda for things I can't buy locally, pop in to work to pick up something I left behind on Thursday, take things to the tip).
We cancelled Sky when OH moved out, as we were paying £56 a month and I couldn't justify that sort of money. It was in his name, and they've just sent him a 'come back to us' offer of £13 a month for their basic package - so I think we'll do that, there's a big difference between £56 and £13. I've been coping with the Freeview that was built into the TV, but there are so few channels and the reception is rubbish. I actually ended up watching Gardeners' World last night...No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -
Morning everyone
The sun is shining!!:T
NSD day yesterday so well pleased with that. Also, 5 - 0 ::beer:
Today's plan:
Enjoy the sunshine with the kids. Walk to the park, play on park, walk home along the beach. I love that we live right near the beach. It's bleak when the weathers bad, but awesome when the sun is out. Maybe do some rock pool investigating
Take kids for cake and a drink at the local tea room (No spend required as they both won vouchers from school) and sit outside and watch the birds whilst stuffing little faces
All meals from stores (apart from the free cake of course).
Check online banking and update spreadsheets.
Finalise plan of action wrt personal loan/savings. After yesterdays epic fact finding mission and calculations my brain still hurts, so get this done and FORGET! :rotfl:
Make meals for work tomorrow. I work a shift pattern that means all hours are worked in a block then 6 days off. It's brilliant but it makes that first day back after 6 feel like going back after a holiday. Still, first world problems I suppose :rotfl:
That should be just about it for today. Enjoy people

We did the same thing. Baulked at the price they were wanting to charge us after our offer ran out (I always haggle and have never paid full price). They wouldn't budge so we cancelled and lived with freesat for 12 months. Every month, without fail, they sent us a "come back" letter with ever increasing discounts. One month they sent one offering us the full package (minus movies - we have Netflix) for the price of £25 p/m. DEAL. :T
I know it's a WANT and not a NEED but considering what we have should cost around £100 p/m and I'm a MASSIVE sports nut (seriously, I'll watch anything) I think it's well worth it. Plus it's cheaper than going to the pub!:D
Just shows it's worth haggling or even calling their bluff and cancelling. They always come crawling back wanting your business.Debts 14/6/2019 (LBM 5/3/2019)

I'll get Sky again when they give me back the £64.95 they owe me, plus interest, plus a personal handwritten apology from Rupert Murdoch*, for dragging their heels over closing my Sky broadband down, all under the banner of "don't cancel your DD, we'll inform you when the migration is complete."
Then they forgot. Apparently, this was my fault.
* I know he doesn't own Sky any more, but he did in 2012. I also know this means no Sky again, ever, but... meh, I work overseas, and the kids prefer youtube anyway.0 -

This happened to us with O2. Hence the £62 refund on yesterdays post. Kept taking a monthly payment for a phone contract that was cancelled months earlier. This too, was apparently my fault because i should have told them not take money for contract that no longer existed  It really winds me up that they do this, especially when they hound the life out of you if they're owed anythingDebts 14/6/2019 (LBM 5/3/2019)
