    Afternoon all,

Big hugs to all that need them!! :)

Had a spendy afternoom brought some eggs for easter...spent £16 on 16 packets of creme eggs lol but tbh 10 packs were for work so i will get the £10 from them back tomorrow!! Also brought washin powder, conditioner hair spray and bread i did spend £8.05 on them but the washing stuff will last nearly 3 weeks so not too bad!! Dd is at a friends for tea so thats one meal saved, will make mine and ohs tea later as he wont be back until 8ish so i will eat then!! Dd has brownies later so another £2 spend but that should (hopefully) be all. Had a clean up downstairs i might try and have a quick bath before getting dd so i can have it in peace :rotfl: who needs a holiday when you can have a bath in peace :rotfl:

My dfw items i have done today:
    •All meals from stores
•saved a meal as dd went to friends
    •washer on quick wash
•only me in the house so no heating on
•sorted my drawers out the weekend and fou d loads of goodies so i will give my hair a treatment with the brand new treatment i found

Dd had a parcel this morning (i was suspicious as shes 8) anyway i opened it and shes won a competition....she hasnt been home yet but she will be thrilled at her new toy and it cost me a stamp :j its from one of those kids magazines and she always tried to enter them and never wins but this time she has :T

Anyway best go and prep tea and iron clothes for tomorrow!!

    Have a lovely evening

    Evening all :)
Thanks for the start PF - I was up at stupid o'clock too :( Against my better judgement I went back to bed for a while, which, as always, made me feel wiped out and a bit migrainey (if that is a word lol). I should just have caffiened up and got on with it, and will make sure I do next time!
    Today's list:
Washed hair and left it to dry naturally (as if I would do anything else :rotfl:)
HG cooked fruit from freezer with breakfast instead of bought fresh fruit

Cleared up kitchen and put recycling out
Checked banks and updated spending diary (must enter figures on spreadsheet later as I haven't updated it for a few days)
Messaged boiler man as the hot water pressure / flow has been really slow since the boiler was serviced a week or so ago. Also reminded him that has hasn't yet sent me the bill!

Took some 'new' items to sales unit and brought back some unsold ones.
    Posted 3 ebay parcels
Popped into Icyland and bought some lettuce and cucumber to go with dinner - £1.60 spent.

Food was from home (except for newly bought lettuce and cucumber)
    Stripped and remade bed

2 loads of washing almost dry on line outside, despite slightly dodgy, drizzly but windy weather. One lot is now finishing off in airing cupboard, the rest is on the airer. It will dry overnight with the residual heat from the wood stove which we tend to light for a few hours in the evenings.

Planning a bit of a batch cooking session tomorrow, so will shortly be raiding the freezer for ingredients to defrost in readiness :)

    Morning folks

PurpleFairy Thank you for this weeks thread :A 5:30:eek: that is the middle of my night.

    Today's list:
Go shopping and stick to the list
    Take bags with me
    Put away ALL shopping
    Update spending diary
Pack snacks and drinks for after training
Take packed lunch for me and dd
Home educate children, only spends today for budgeted training
Wash hair and let it dry naturally
    Follow the meal plan
Jot 4 ideas for next weeks meal plan

    Hope to add more later.

I've managed everything on my list. I also took dd to her friends for a couple of hours after training today and arranged another HE parent to give him a lift.
Borrowed series 1 of a show we are wanting to watch off a friend, free entertainment.
Made bread. Has anyone made bread successful in a slow cooker? I read a couple of blog posts about it and thought I might try one day.
    PAD
    Pmp etc

We also had someone round to quote for a new boiler, what they have said so far sounds promising. We should be getting a written quote later in the week. We also need to get a couple of other quotes. This is currently a fact finding mission. We have lived here nearly 15 years and the boiler came with the house and wasn't new then. We have since increased the size of the house and the style of heating system. We are planning on replacing probably this year, but not until my parents have moved into their new home, unless our current one breaks down.

1LL With regards to meal plans, currently we are generally planning weekly, but quite fluid about which days we actually have a given dish. We also plan 1 day a week to eat various portions of home made ready meals, these are the odd portions left from previous meals that we have put in the freezer, mostly people choose from the wide selection but occasionally we might find we have a lot of similar meals ie various lasagnas, so I might decide we are having that. Another thing we do is have a snack night, where each person has what they want and makes it, be it a sandwich or omelette or something on toast etc. As often, particularly at the weekend, there seems to be a day when nobody is hungry.

Another poor nights sleep. Oh well, I've been productive:

    Researched something online
Reconciled just for points credit card
    Checked banking
Done next years budget, it starts in September, so not really too early to start playing around with it. Also looked back at last few years and back to when I first tried budgeting in 2007 to see have far we've come and how many tweaks we've had to make
Updated this years budget for a couple of price increases like council tax :(
Made a jelly with left over water from early morning coffee

    Other things:
Tea is already made, just need warming through later
    Leftovers for lunch
Take snacks and hot drink to work. Albeit I might cash in my free hot drink voucher today as it's going to be a looong one. Still no cost to me though.
Cancel mobile phone contract and get pac code
    Smalls to prepaid activity

DNMS not sure if you're away or not, hope you're ok. You too ally who I think is on her jollies and la e et al :)

OK, quite a busy day ahead, and as the car isn't fixed yet I'm going to have to take at least one taxi. Grr.

    - a mug of tea and two slices of whole meal toast (79p for a really nice seeded wholemeal loaf from Aldi - a lot cheaper than their Warburton's white!! And healthy - I'm determined to be frugal and healthy. 16 slices = 5p per slice.) with butter on one and National Trust passionfruit curd on the other (given as a gift at Christmas - once it's gone, it's gone. But it is delicious!!)
    - the washing I put round the radiator overnight is nearly dry. No great hurry for it, so it can just stay there until it's completely dry, no need to use the tumble dryer to finish it off.

    - weekly French lesson this morning. This was paid for back in September, so no point in not going. I get a reduced rate on the train, as I qualify as a student (£1.90 return) so not much of an expense. I used to buy a coffee at the college when I got there, and sometimes a 'little something' to go with it, but that doesn't happen any more - I make myself a coffee before I set off, so I don't feel the need. The course comes to an end at Easter, and I won't be rejoining next year.
    - lunch will be more of that rubber chicken (day 3), in sandwiches with chutney (from stores). Won't have time to eat it as need to get to a meeting in the afternoon, and will need to get a taxi. Can get a bus back home, but don't want to be late for the meeting so can't risk it on the way out. I'll get a free coffee and maybe a bikkie while I'm out. Yay.
    - I sent some items to our local auction a week or two ago, so there's money (£79 less commission) to be collected. Trouble is, without a car I can't get there. Will ring them and see if it can be paid direct to the bank account.
    - I'm looking at taking in a lodger. The room is all ready, and I had an enquiry yesterday - I suggested they might like to give me a ring so we could have a chat before meeting up, and they never did, so I need to just do a gentle chase on them today.
    - chunky chicken soup for dinner tonight. I have some lentils in the store cupboard that should have been used *ahem* a while ago, so they'll go in, with maybe some spices (also from stores). Must remember to soak them before I go out.
    - this evening I need to do some research for a job I've applied for. They said in their application notes that no prior knowledge was expected - but we all know what that means!! Thank goodness for Google.

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Morning,

Yesterday went as smoothly as it could with everything I had on however it was rather spendy! I attempted to be MSE with some things but then everything else added up. My total spends came to £28.45, ouch! I'm now going to cut back for a small while and stay in a bit more. I've £75 left in my entertainment budget to last until the end of the month. I need to be sensible.

I've never been a big spender but just lately I seem to be spending more and more. I need to rein this in.

Any tips on doing from anyone?

Anyway today I have yet more things planned meaning yet another spendy day.

    • I'm getting my nails done. (Not very MSE but a friend is doing them for £15. It is one of the last treats to myself).
    • I have a podiatrist appointment. (This is an initial consultation for an ongoing issue I have. I'm unsure of costs).
    • I'm cooking a meal for me and manfriend.(I think I'm going to cook us steak).
    • Take boy to football. (Take my own drinks with me).
    • Do small food shop. (Just for the essentials).
    • Phone my care team. (I need to confirm appointment).
    • Phone another health service for appointment. (I missed a call from them last night and it's something I really want to get sorted).

That's pretty much it for now. After today I'm going to make sure the rest of the week is a quiet one.

    Afternoon all,

    Thanks BB :)
    Clf, congrats on the handstand!
Chandelier, When I met mrlucky (haha I've never typed that before!!) it was all meals out, cinema, out for drinks and weekends away (and that was 15yrs ago) its hard dating i think when on a budget, cooking at home is a good plan though.
Trailing, you're sounding very organised :)
Pf - next years budget already!! and I thought Trailing was organised!

Its been a strange old day but I'm finally feeling human again so have achieved a few bits
    * ys bread used for boys breakfasts
    * use up brunch for me (and my dad who called in) added in some extra veggies and we shared
    * washed a load on the quick wash and hung on the line (it wasn't dry by the time the rain came though unfortunately)
    * spot cleaned cream carpet, much cheaper then hiring the carpet vax that I was thinking about in the middle of the night!
    * tidied in the garden a bit and filled two garden waste bags - did this as it was dry this morning and the garden waste collection week this week :)
    * checked banking/updated spreadsheet and filed some paperwork to keep everything straight
    * saw on the:money: home page a £5 off £25 amzn spend, we had items in our basket that qualified and one of the items prices had gone down since we'd put it in the basket too which was good.
    * renewed library books online

    Still need to
** prep tonights meal and kids after school veggies
** put some washing away from radiators Done
** make families lunches for tomorrow Done
** hang the shirts on the airer that didn't dry on the line Done
** clean down kitchen using stardrops
    ** share bath water later
** book gym classes for the rest of the week as I'm feeing a lot better. Done

    Take care all

    Afternoon all :)
Big cook up this morning, as I had mince out of the freezer, and used up all of the bendy vegetables and leftovers in the fridge.Made 2 shepherds pie bases (ie just the meat part) and 2 big tubs of bolognese :) All except for 1 shepherds pie base, which we will have tomorrow, in freezer now.
Looked after little GS for a few hours while his Mum did some work for her business. We went for a long walk and did hilarious things like looking for flying birds, playing with a ball game thing, tipping the pegs out of the peg bag (it is very funny when poor old grandma has to pick them up) and crawling round on the floor, which is a hoot when grandma does it, if hard on the knees :rotfl:
Helped OH stack yet another load of firewood, which he assures me is the last this season - which is good, as I am pretty sure that this is one of the things that I shouldn't be doing due to ongoing health stuff :o

Scattered some compost /manure stuff on raspberry bed

Sowed some coriander seed in little pots

Watered seedlings, plus a few garden pots that needed it (surprising given the amount of rain we have had!)
I have a loaf doing its thing in the bread maker
Claimed a £5 Amazon voucher from a survey site :)

Dinner will be something I already have
I took all the remaining rhubarb out of the freezer last night, as the rhubarb in the garden is growing like mad. I will cook it all up later when I have the oven on to do dinner. I may make some pies with it, or may refreeze most of it cooked and ready to go. Some will be kept out for breakfast fruit (I love it with porridge and yogurt, sounds weird, but it is like lovely pudding for breakfast :D)
