You cannot get working tax credits as you now claim UC.
The earnings restrictions for the work capability assessment that have been discussed here are irrelevant. As your wife gets PIP she is exempt from the restriction and can have a WCA.0 -
Completely forgot that, good spot. The earnings restrictions for the work capability assessment that have been discussed here are irrelevant. As your wife gets PIP she is exempt from the restriction and can have a WCA.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
Has an AP ended since making the change re: caring. If not it probably won't get sorted/paid until your next pay date.0

So when I call them tomorrow what should I be asking them to look at?
The carers element and the WCA?0 -
The carers element yes but for the WCA then you'll need backdated fit/sick notes and then she'll be referred for the WCA.Houndog6105 wrote: »So when I call them tomorrow what should I be asking them to look at?

If your wife is using her wheelchair indoors get onto the council, they should give you a discount on your council tax, usually a reduction by one band.
This is completely different to council tax support, the benefit that helps people pay their council tax though you can claim both the disabled reduction and council tax support at the same time.0 -
Hi GlasweJen
I've already done the council tax support
They sent somebody to our house from the council and I got a letter a few days ago saying they will reduce us by a band
Think it took a couple of hundred pounds off our yearly bill0 -

That sounds like the Council Tax Disability discount. As GlasweJen says it is completely separate from Council Tax Reduction which you should be claiming also.
The discount reduces your Council Tax band and therefore reduces your liability. Council Tax Reduction helps you meet your liability by paying some of it for you.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
Yes I got the band reduction but ill contact them again about the other help
Just contacted UC and I was told I have added everything to my journal correctly and when I mentioned the carers element she said it takes time for them to update things at there end and when they are informed from DWP that I'm on carers allowance they will update at there end
So I said we'll hang on a minute you know I'm on carers allowance as you have deducted it from my award this month
She said yes that's correct she said keep an eye out on my journal and they should add the £156 within the next few days as I was saying will it take another month for it to be added to our next award0
