Morning Frugal Friends,
Amazingly, I did get my job list finished yesterday, despite a horrible headache slowly coming on over the course of the afternoon which resulted in codiene & flaking out on the sofa. Feel perky today though!
HK - Our cat is much more cheerful today - I spread my lush fake fur throw over my chair ready to sink into later to finish my book & he moved in with lightning speed & has been snoring his ears off ever since! My best wishes for your tests & surgery - honestly, I don't know what has caused your problems & it's none of my business, but you really do seem to tackle each day anew without giving up & it's inspirational xx
OK, well after last weekend, we decided to have a much needed boring old couple of days knocking around at home, so this is my frugal list:
*Two baths from one lot of hot water.
*Grocery shopping achieved without paying for any parking - a bit over budget, but not unexpected as I bought a few extra store cupboard items.
*Treated ourselves to coffees & macaroons but as usual, paid with our Personal Spends money, so zero impact on the budget.
*1 bag of 99p soda crystals bought for drain clearing purposes - very effective & cheaper than branded stuff.
*Organic own brand coffee on offer, so bought 3 bags.
*2 x 50ps paid into my sealed pot. Where are all the 50ps?? This year's sealed pot will barely have enough for a chip cob at this rate!
*Swallowed a particularly froggy frog involving someone I don't know very well & have been getting mixed messages from. Not money saving but feel better to have done it, as with all things Frog.
*Out at a gig tomorrow - ticket money budgeted for & a little leftover to subsidise a drinky. Planning to park for free if poss, if not, we know a £1 after 7pm car park.
*All free leisure today - I want to finish my book, start the next one, finish the socks I'm knitting for the present cupboard & read a lovely magazine which was gifted to me, Might start watching 'Baptiste' also as I love a good mystery.
*No downstairs heating on until much later. It's very windy & grey out, with lots of rain threatening, but it doesn't feel too cold indoors.
*Bought a lovely (& massive) terracotta pot as a centrepiece for our courtyard. It wasn't cheap - £40, but it was so good going into the garden centre & buying it, knowing that it was entirely budgeted for - so different from the bad old days, but I've shared quite enough about those in my dfw diary. mr f has promised to help me repot the tree that's going into it tomorrow, so I didn't have to buy anything to fill it.
OK, apparently my lunch is being made, so I shall sign out after wishing you all a nice weekend. I shall update my diary after lunch.

planted broad bean, runner bean & mangetout broad bean (no idea what these are or how they got into my seedbox) in the greenhouse. Apart from mangetout, they were all seeds saved from the allotment last year.
Checked my credit card statement & I've spent a grand total of £10.81 since last month. I managed this by only eating what I had in the cupboard or freezer.Tallyhoh! Stopped Smoking October 2000. Saved £29382.50 so far!0 -
I love spring planting season, Tally-ho. I've got baby chillies & tomatoes up so far & tiny aubergines just emerging. Peppers sown yesterday.2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever

Hi Y'all over on the grocery challenge I'm working hard on shaving my shopping down. So in a bit I'll go and do some baking and make the most of my decent kitchen skills. Over on the £10 a day (which is probably optimistic any day of the week) I'm not doing much all together as had an important parents meeting for son as well as fall out w ex to deal with.
Now to the small things:
Went to gallery visit today w friend, skipped coffee and only spent driving cost.
Had a NSD day yesterday, which I'm very proud of.
Will dry towels on rack.
And will make more plant babies. Rugula seems to be winning so far.
Stared at budget sheets for a while and think I can pull through an other month without crashing, but have opened a 2. current account just in case :-|.
Where do you guys do surveys: I had a go but very quickly got onto a trail of sites sucking information, and now I'm getting daily nuisance calls? Populus live seems ok, but all the surveys come out during the week when I'm at work.
Did a little 4% dance earlier. Thanks for letting me share on this thread XXIsa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

I agree HK, and your amazing attitude has shamed me into stopping with the moaning about my own issues
Had 5 year old GD staying over last night. Not much sleep was had tbh, but I made a good start on clearing up 'Grandma's Marvellous Mess' after she had been picked up :rotfl: Started with the kitchen, as we were decorating biscuits at 6.30 am  then the dining room, where much colouring, sharpening of pencils and cutting out had happened. Then thoroughly cleaned the loft conversion bedroom and ensuite. Only lego up there (a lot of lego, all over the floor :rotfl:), plus sorting out the rubbishy costume jewellery from my sales stock. TBH I hardly sell any of this, but buy the odd £5 job lot when I see it because the little ones get such a lot of fun out of itBut it was a proper tip up there from the kids playing there a couple of times a week, so gave it a good clean and put away the trundle bed, cleaned the shower room and changed the towels
Tied up my poor clematis which was struggling in the horrible wind
Paid milk bill
Also went to a local-ish event with OH. We bought the tickets online in advance as it was cheaper, and my only spends were a couple of coffees and some foodie bits to bring home. OH bought lunch, but only a pasty each. They were quite big so beans on toast was enough for evening meal - for me, anyway, I see OH has been at the stuff we bought back already
All spends noted in spending diary
Looking forward to an early night, as we will be up early for market tomorrowHorrible here atm, been really windy all day, but now it is pouring with rain again as well
Hopefully it will be better tomorrow!

Quick hello :hello:
Busy juggling work and helping my sister sort her finances out so I've been busy. Plus I had to attend a face to face meeting in London today, so I had 7 hours of travel time on top of a 5 hour meeting so it's been a long one.
Pleased to be home now where I'm most comfortable - just about to go to bed.
Normal service should resume by Tuesday at the latest if I'm not on before then.
Love to all that need itNot giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Many thanks foxglovesand DawnW.
I had spinal damage and paraplegia as a child and with it come secondaries, just when u have sorted one another pops up. But one thing I have learnt is that people are stronger than they think. When I first went to the spinal unit a few years ago now I felt such a fraud. Some of the experiences people had gone thru, were both mindblowing and heartbreaking. It just makes u more determined.
The great thing about having the cats is they give me routine and it all started with a stray. foxgloves I can just imagine the cat with the fake fur throw, mine would be having a stand off of who would get it
CCL I hope u get chance to rest up today, that is alot of travelling.
Off on a road trip today for work for a sports event. Have packed a flask and food so I dont have to spend. Allowing extra journey time in case of rough weather but I have woken to blue skies so hopefully it will be a good day
Have been up early to sort the cats out and just about to get ready. Will be nice to go to an event, it has been awhile.
Food from the freezer tonight
That's about it from me
Have a great day everyone xDecluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Morning folks
HK - I also agree with foxgloves - you def put a smile on my face
Hugs to all the poorlies, those awaiting test results and anyone feeling less than fresh xxx
Bizarrely, I had a call from local hospital about arranging the vestibular function test that I should have had 8 months ago. My vertigo has massively improved though so I told them not to worry. Although in response, it has been bad all weekend. Should have had the test!
I've had a funny grump on me all weekend. Not sure why but it felt like a weekend of sitting around watching the rain and either OH waiting for me, or me waiting for OH. Got called into work for a bit on Friday too but have decided to take the time in lieu instead of charging overtime.
So taking my inspiration from HK, I will list the happy things I did this weekend:- Had a nice meal out with OH on Thurs night. Taken from budgeted spends although felt a bit guilty. Had my first glass of wine in 34 days as per my "allowable" reasons for a glass. Enjoyed it, resisted having more.
- Didn't get any wines/beers etc last night despite feeling very fed up and wanting to.
- Sowed peas, lettuce and turnips
- Saved buying plastic garden border stuff by reusing concrete tiles that my LL removed from the outhouse and dumped down the back of the house. Looks really good actually.
- Raked a load of moss out the lawn
- Hit some bench presses at 40kg at 3s tempo
- Lots of cooking. Made cinnamon raisin bread, chicken, saus casserole, banana oat bars, beef stew, fish n chips, batch cooked quinoa
- Got the last panel of the crochet blanket done. Just the border now for the main blanket.
- B/L/D from stores:
- HM Raisin bread with peanut butter - done
- Grapes with quark - done
- Sausage casserole - done
- Cottage cheese and oatcakes - done
- Roast chicken dinner I think (can't remember meal plan) - done
- Ask OH to peg towels outside - done
- Used a "free flush" from dehumid water - done
- Rotated seedlings - done
- Heating off - on later as quite cold
- Ask OH to make a loaf - done
- Ask OH to dust spare room - done
- Remind OH to do his accounts/invoice for last night - done
- No alcohol - done
- Charge phone in work - done
- Get some fresh air and sunshine at lunch time as it's finally sunny - done
- Check PMP - done
- Check Noddle. I do - donen't like having this car debt now! I know we'll make inroads in the summer when OH is gigging more but I don't like it just sitting and not being saved towards. - done
