Morning all, bit of a spendy time here as DD2 now home from uni and fridge is full and washing machine on overtime. DD1 also brought home a tub of muddy outerwear from her work (pre-school) saying it was her turn to do the washing! As we don't have a tumble dryer I've had stuff on 2 x driers and now on the line - hoping rain will hold off.... Also DD2's birthday next week so may go out for a birthday meal. I've brought most of her presents already and payday is Weds so hoping to just about stay in credit this month (a rarity).
So for today not planning to spend much other than I need some fruit for breakfasts next week and may treat DDs and DD2s boyfriend to a coffee when we go out for a walk later.
I admire everyone on here who has green fingers! I need to look into that this year ….
Love to everyone

CLF Well done on the changes you have made to your relationship with alcohol.
OH works away from home and for the last 10 years only drinks 0.5%> alcohol, as alcohol interacts negatively with his chronic medical condition and treatment. I set myself one rule, not to drink alone. If OH is having a no/low alcohol beer, I might have a beer. If we are at a party or out for a meal, I could have a drink if I felt like it.
Currently my parents are living with us and we have wine a couple of times a week and maybe a beer another night. I'm happy with my consumption, it works for me.
I feel each person needs to work out their own relationship and set rules that work for them.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Thanks BB, that's appreciated - it's def a work in progress but I'm very determined.
I certainly wasn't drinking in an overly problematic way in that it would impact me day to day. i.e. I wasn't hung over for work, or god forbid, drinking secretly, or in the morning. But I could happily have a couple of big glasses of wine, or a couple of pints most nights which adds up to a lot of units (I was probably drinking around 25 units a week on average compared to guidelines of 14 units). I'm in my mid-thirties now so I really need to think about my health going forward.
After my breakdown at the start of 2017, I had to do a lot of soul searching for recovery and I knew that I was drinking more than was healthy, and that I was using alcohol to "switch off", de-stress and as a distraction from any uncomfortable feelings. I cut down a lot in 2018 and went to drinking about 14 units a week on average.
After my holiday this year, I decided that I was going to be an occasional drinker. Meals out, high days and holidays, all fine. But not an every day part of my life. I did a dry month to start off with as a "reset". It's been easier than expected in some ways and tougher in others. Unfortunately I REALLY like the taste of alcoholic drinks! I have been trying all kinds of non alcoholic alternatives. BrewDog's Nanny State is quite nice beer, non-alcoholic ciders are quite good. Wine is a work in progress! I haven't found one that tastes like wine yet! Asda do a "nosecco" that's ok at a push but I don't really like sweet drinks so fizzy doesn't do it for me.

CLF Thank you for sharing your reasons for change.
Every day you stick to your own rules is a win. If you slip up, draw a line under it, and when your head is clear think about why you didn't stick your rules
OH has yet to find a free/low alcohol wine that he is willing to drink.
He likes Brewdog's Nanny state, St Peters without he finds ok and didn't finish the Adnams one he tried.
At the end of last year we brought OH an alcohol free case from Beerwulf, which contained 16 different beers. He is planning to order another case soon.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Evening all
Market first thing, where I bought a few things to sell on, plus bargainous parsnips and cauliflowers
Came back, took the dog for a walk
Cleaned bathroom
Cleaned kitchen and washed floors
Emptied fluff etc from hoovers into the compost bin - waste not etc!
2 loads of washing out on line, as it wasn't raining :T
Final items now on airer to finish off
Yet another load in the machine - I have been saving it up a bit while the weather has been awful.
Wrapped 3 ebay parcels ready to post tomorrow
Watered seedlings in mini greenhouse, and moved the tomato seedlings from their rather posh nursery in an antique terrarium to the kitchen windowsill
Protected newly emerging peas from pesky pigeons
Made a quiche with a filo pastry shell, to use leftover filo
Had some of the foodie bits we brought back from yesterday's event for dinner, along with a tray of roasted potatoes, sweet potatoes, parsnips, onions and cauliflower
Quite pleased with today's efforts0 -
Evening all, despite a fridge that is full to bursting I've given DD2 a £10 to 'buy something for tea'. She has had some issues with eating so not as extravagant as that may sound. The food in the fridge will all get eaten at some point.
I've made my lunch for tomorrow and managed to get quite a bit of washing dry on the line.
On 'mse' thing I've achieved is to sign up to swagbucks
