Flight Cancellation

Hello money savers,

I hope you can help me save some money.

I recently booked a flight. Due to personal reasons. I would like to cancel a ticket. Now I am aware through a phone call to the airline that I lose the money but I get the tax back, however I do have travel insurance that covers cancellation..
Cancellation, Curtailment &
Trip Interruption;

Covers pre-arranged travel and
accommodation expenses that are
irrecoverable in the event that you have
to cancel or cut short Your Trip.

Limit £5,000
Cover is not provided for:

Claims arising from any Pre-Existing Medical Condition.
Cancellation due to pregnancy or childbirth unless necessary due to certified medical complications.
Claims arising from any circumstances you
knew about when booking the journey which
indicated you might need to cancel.
Failure of the provider of any part of the booked
trip to supply the service or transport.
With an excess of £65.
Obviously it's a personal reason for cancellation..but not a foreseen one.

Im curious what's the best way to go about making a claim to the Flexi-Cover..wording the claim form etc. Or if you dont think i stand much chance of a refund at all....?

Thanks..I hope.

I doubt very much that you would be able to claim on your insurance. Cancellations covered by insurance tend to be for reasons where you absolutely cannot fly, for reasons such as unforeseen illness or the illness of a close relation. I imagine that you could still fly if you wanted to, and hence would not be eligible to claim on your insurance?

Ok..that's not so good to hear but, thanks for your swift replies.

Yes, I could still fly if I wanted...that's a bummer.

If you don't ask you don't know..it's my 1st in this situation, though I have always thought it 'odd' that once a seat is booked there is no comeback..where as with nearly everything else you get some kinda consumer rights..and a period of 'cooling off'..or set number of days to change your mind..or maybe more applicable in this case 'a reasonable period of cancellation'..ya know?

I didn't know if anyone could suggest a way to word the form if you know what i mean.

Lysney..it's a temp account to ask this question as it's how i feel atm...yes, it's the reason I picked the name. ;)

I think your relationship with the insurers and the police might suffer if you continue down that route

I'll come with you IQ ... or I would if you weren't planning to scam the insurers.

To get a claim validated by your insurers, you would need official evidence of a health condition, the death of a close relative etc. You have two hopes ...

    lol..no no..

I don't wanna scam them, i just meant if there was a reasonable wording that incorporated my situation...I read it that I had an 'unforeseen circumstance'..that's why I came to ask you folks. I never wish to talk up ill health or worse for anyone.

lol..skydate...hahahaha Lynsey..liking the humour :p..but unless you all wanna sit on my knee..there is only my seat...lol

Thanks guys...even if only for making me laugh. :)

Was it one of the cheapest seats? No chance to rebook it for another date?

Why not go anyway? Are you chicken?

If you booked the flight and taken the holiday time, just go.

I'll be sunning myself on a beach in Thailand. Come to say hello. :)

Why am I assuming that your partner was going with you in the first place.....

Just a thought, a sober one (no cooking sherry yet).............................

...................why not just "miss" your flight, either by say, getting there too late to check in, or turn up without your passport. Does your insurance cover for this?? There must be a way around this and you deserve it for the novelty value.
