If you can afford 140K for a car the price dropping by 40K should not be a problem for you.

Bit of an arsey thing to say?

An unexpected £40,000 drop in an asset value is noteworthy no matter how much money an individual has.

People who have money tend to do so because they have a grip of their finances not by letting £40k slip here and there.

It's knocked at least £40k off the residuals though, if you were planning to amortize the cost over 3/4 years and sell it on, but that'd only apply to cash purchases as Leases will be fine.

The only problem I see is a total loss write off without gap insurance, where the payout will be £40k less than the invoice, but that's what gap insurance is for.

    +1

It could be the difference between something costing £40k over 3 years and it unexpectedly costing £80k over the same period. Irksome at very least.

Now there's a good reason to PCP a new car - the GMV wouldn't change and Tesla (or the finance company) would be taking the hit.

I was thinking about the resale value of a Tesla as one went by me on the motorway a few weeks ago. How long is the battery guaranteed for? Can they be replaced fairly cheaply? Given a new car depreciates fairly quickly, it seems Teslas could too!
Not an expert, but like pensions, tax questions and giving guidance. There is no substitute for tailored financial advice.

It's enough to knock confidence in the brand. People buy on price at that price and a 29% reduction is enough to damage that confidence.

Tesla will be bankrupt in 48 months anyway and your warranty will be worthless

Except this is the harsh truth.

I wouldn’t be worrying about the 40k, I’d be watering my manufacturer will be no more.

The huge discount suggests to me he is struggling with cashflow. Anyone have a very long bargepole?

Was the £140K Tesla a private purchase or for/by the OP's business?
