One thing that PC users can do that Mac users can't.....
...Ever notice how most Mac users are skinny? It's because of all the calories they burn because they can't shut the !!!! up about how great their Macs are. What is it about Apple that makes its users unable to shut their mouths? Everywhere I go, there's another !!!!!!! with a Mac preaching about how much better Macs are than PCs...Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0 -

HEHE  but surely MAC's are turning into PC's now with using intel processors (since what 2006) and Nvidia graphics.....If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -
I'm reading this thread because like many people, I've paid the ultimate price. I dropped my laptop and broke the hard drive. Had to have a new one but of course, lost everything. Luckily, the laptop is only 7 months old and I still have my old PC, so (most) of my photo's & documents were still on it and I've been able to transfer them. Just lost what I've added this year. NOW, I've bought an external hard drive ( I know-should have done it before) and tried to use the windows back facility. Well, it ran the backup, told me that it was complete, but when I've checked the external hard drive, the backup folder has been created, but its empty. Anyone know what I've done wrong?:smileyhea A SMILE COSTS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING0

so do you have a mac then...
I do indeed. Time Machine looks rather snazzy, but buying another HDD just to use for backup just isn't fun. Might be a good idea though.Ever notice how most Mac users are skinny?
Hey, if Macs help you lose weight, that's just another reason they're better than PCs.
Anyhow, any Time Machine users out there?0 -

Hi All!
Just picked up disc in PC World for their 'free' Backup service.
It offers 1GB of storage without charge, then an ongoing PAYG charge, for up to 50GB .
Any thoughts or experience, before I put the disc in!!??
Thanks in advance!

Much better and cheaper solutions. I pay less than that for Mozy with unlimited back up and the free version stores twice as much as do many other examples listed on this thread. It'll probably end up being successful simply because it's PC World and people don't know any better and don't bother looking for alternatives."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I’m useless when it comes to computers, I’ve never backed anything up in my life, wouldn’t have a clue how to, but I have been looking at this, I have a few questions if someone can take the time to reply:
Is it straightforward to use?
Do I have to use a disc? (Never used one ever)
Does the backup remain on my system?
Do I have to backup every time I’ve finished on my comp?
I only use my comp basically for surfing and email; do I still need to backup?
The price looks quite expensive, is this about average price? On the site it has a voucher code, can I be cheeky and ask does anyone have one please?
Sorry for so many questions.
