I have in the past used the free storage available at 123reg.

It used to be free when you bought a domain, but as far as I can tell thats not the case anymore.
Worth a try.:beer:0 -
if you fancy being big and brave
amazon s3 and jungledisk work very nicely i got a silly amount of stuff on my s3 account and pay around 3pound a month i also have all my familys stuff on itThe orginal post in this thread has a very very slim chance of being about money saving. The post is more than likely to ask a question that google could answer better than any of us.0 -
For those who are into Open Source stuff:
Clonezilla is a frontend for the "hard to get to grips with" PartImage.
It copes with just about every filesystem you would want (all of the main Windows and Linux ones, but sorry no Mac support) and can do partition and disk images, with or without compression.
The user interface does not look great, but - having just done a test backup image of an 80 Gb drive and a restore to a different drive - it certainly works.0 -
Has anybody used BT's Digital Vault backup software? It is included with their broadband package I think. I was considering getting an external hard drive but I'm not sure which is the best option.
not enough for vista...:rotfl:

...I have been to the control panel...and gone to restore thingy...but it isn't giving me the option to recover just windows ultimate I have made a backup on the hdd of what is on my system already...newly installed today...but that's all it'll let me do apart from the system restorepoint...
so how do I make a copy of windows ultimate in the event of me losing my system and need to do a new install...
I do have a copy of windows vista home premium...which according to the vista magazine has the whole kit and cabboodle on you just need the key to unlock which is yours...so if this is true then I have it on that disc already....but I was under the impression that one disc one COA one pc and you cannot reuse on other pc's with other COA's like you can with xp...

If you want the ultimate industry standard backup soloution go for a flavour of Symantec Backup Exec, proven reliability, open file options and entire network backlup it is very hard to beat, you will be looking around £250 for a copy but it depends on how much you value your data.Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0

I agree with Proliant as we use Backup Exec at work too, it's very good indeed if you need that degree of data back up. Might be overkill for the average user though.0
