Clearly we were raised differently. Rudeness is never justifiable.
This problem arose precisely because the Newbies post was not at the start of the board. I don't pretend to be an expert on these forums, which is exactly why I had a problem and your experience of many repeats of the same questions points to a need for a different approach. Interesting that you had difficulty in getting a positive response from the board's owner.
I have no interest in reinventing the wheel. If tose who see this as a hobby are happy, then I'll leave you to play.0 -
Any different approach is down to the mse staff or owner (money supermarket) not volunteers like me or the other regulars here , especially not when we have been doing what you ask for several years already as best we can
You join the forum you put up with the foibles , or try and change it , but mse haven't changed it for several years and are not interested in a legal forum or By changes in this one , their apathy beggars belief , so we work with what we have already , which is worse since they changed it 2 months ago
You opened a door in not doing basic research so I stepped through it and wrote out various facts , nobody has challenged those facts , neither have you , so you choose to shoot the messenger instead of admitting you had little idea about the real issues which have nothing to do with the aim of this thread
When the bsi CoP arrives , maybe your prayers will be answered
I emailed my MP over 5 years ago and got the bums rush from the then transport minister via the house of commons , so nothing new there except it's now a different department
I tell it how I see it , I am not here to make friends , we educate those with less knowledge whilst continuing to learn ourselves , meanwhile , read my signature

What is unclear about my signature, under every reply I make? We are not allowed to carry live links in signatures so my replies all carry the words below.
I for one would NEVER give someone the link to a sticky thread - that would be utter spoonfeeding and I think it's more than enough that I give the words in colours below every post I make.
It's a forum. As with all forums, 'sticky' threads are pinned at the top, 2 clicks back.
No personal criricism intended at all, but I am a bit surprised and taken aback that a regular poster such as @Edislaw has never noticed my signature words, and clicked twice to get to the advice thread. It is in capital letters to grab attention, and is always there at the top of page one with the other two open stickies which are not in capitals.
They jostle for their top three places depending on replies, just as this threa jostles to the top of the general list, when people reply on it. This is how forums operate.
If we have to spoonfeed the sticky thread to everyone (and we won't) how exactly are newbies ever going to see how to hop around the forum, unless they do it for themselves? One thread is the tip and an enormous iceberg and people who stay on one thread are missing pretty much everything the forum has to offer. Which is why I carry these colourful words below...

It's the eternal problem. The great mass of people moan and comply, Change is brought about the few among us who are disruptors..Challenging the norms, questioning and through tenacity make life better for everyone. We all sert personal limits so if yours is to offer help to a point and not beyond that's your business.
Realistically it requires a level of interest or endless spare time to plough through a 53 page forum seeking nuggets of knowledge. It would be more efficient use of time to pay £50 and get on with life/ The decision most people make.
Weare in the middle of an unparalleled international challenge which our government appears not to be making the best job of handling. The astonishing thing is that, predictably, people who abandoned their usual voting ehaviour and voted them in are those suffering most. The parrallel is that people are notoriously difficult to help.
Signature ines in social media are usually a window into the soul of the writer not a critical message. No, I didn't see it. Having only been around computers for forty years maybe I'm a Newbie but that just makes me typical of the people visiting this thread for the first time.

I'm a Newbie but that just makes me typical of the people visiting this thread for the first time.
Typically the person who comes here for the first time parks where they should not have, did not read the signs, and/or failed to pay the charge.
They want to know how to avoid paying a silly amount of money, or win a court case without exerting themselves or doing a modicum of research. They read The Sun, follow football, and wear trainers. I call them the sheeple. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
This thread is one tiny weeny grain in a whole vat of sugar! I beg you to read more of our forum. This thread is not the 'forum'. Come off this (very narrow, and very small) thread Edislaw.
Here are the last two times I have appeared as a lay rep in court, free, for posters (and I paid for a judgment copy myself and travelled two hours on the train, setting off at 6am for the Southampton one):

Hi all,
I have recently received 2 letters from BWLegal (and had harassing calls on my mobile while at work but I've now blocked them).
They are chasing an amount allegedly owed to their client, UK Parking Patrol Office Ltd of £160.
The first letter vaguely referenced 'Prohibited Parking' at Newcastle Airport. The second is simply a demand threatening 'further collections activity in the form of calls, letter, emails and SMS' and makes no reference to the reason of the alleged debt.
I've searched my files and found a letter from Zenith Collections dated 18th January 2016 for a debt of £59.99 for '6.3 - Parking in Prohibited Area' in September 2015, 5 years ago! This letter was ignored and nothing further came of it.
The vehicle referenced in the original letter was a rental, and a driver was dropping someone off at Newcastle Airport. The driver stopped briefly while one of the passengers jumped out in an area that was unsigned and without double yellows. No barriers were jumped or broken! The driver did not leave the vehicle, the engine stayed running and 2 other colleagues were with the driver in the vehicle.
I have put in a SAR to UKPPO (from advice on Pepipoo) and will see what comes back from that.
* Should I take any action?
* 3 drivers were insured on the rental and present in the vehicle... how can they be sure who was driving?
* Can a collection "solicitor" chase an alleged debt that's 5 years old with 4.5 years of zero contact? We can't prove now that there wasn't signage and to be honest our recollection of the day is rather vague now! The dash cam has long since deleted the footage.
Thank you so much in anticipation,
Chris

Can a collection "solicitor" chase an alleged debt that's 5 years old with 4.5 years of zero contact?Yes, they have 6 years, but this is defendable. Email a SAR to UKPPO's data protection email, like the NEWBIES thread tells you. This stage is fully covered in the pinned sticky thread, second post of it is all about pre-court threats, then court action.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

as above, plus UKPPO have no idea of who was driving so never reveal it if you know, plus they will have failed to get any hire docs too, plus POFA does not apply so no Keeper liability eitherthe 6 year rule is when its statute barred , hence why they are skint and chasing up old cases1
