Am I right in thinking that the next step is court and we're just awaiting a date?
    No.

You need to read the links under the red section in the NEWBIES thread, as I already said:
if you have any questions after reading the NEWBIES thread about 'what happens when' ( a link to a post by bargepole).
It is VITAL that you realise it's not just defence then just a hearing.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Hi I have PCN for 6.3 PARKING IN A PROHIBITED AREA - however I didn’t get out of my vehicle and moved, I was going to pull into the car park but was concerned my van wouldn’t fit under the height restricted barrier the only option I had was to dive into the space provided or revers back out a one way. My wig who was waiting in the car park area quickly ran over and jumped in. As I did not leave the vehicle and was probably stationary for a max of 2 mins should I respond to them or infinite their request for £100 or £60 if I pay early. TIA

Was this alleged event to do with parking at Newcastle airport?

Did you get an invoice from a private parking scammer or is this a council ticket?

Have you used your real name? That is not a good idea.
I married my cousin. I had to...

Decline it. It's pointless. They want paying and you don't want to pay. There is nothing to negotiate.

But you haven't written a Witness Statement yet, have you?

    What about evidence?

Are you not following the guidance offered in post #2 of the NEWBIES thread? In particular, Bargepole's 'what happens when' post linked from there. You were pointed towards that Bargepole post in post #209 above.

Coming in to this late, I have one from 2015 still going on.

One point to put if it is relevant,

UKPPO say they are empowered by NIA to enforce the byelaws, the previous contract they had was not directly with NIA but with Newcastle park & fly this contract ended in 2018. It said in it the could issue penalty notices and the byelaws said parking notices could be issued. Small point.

That's massively important point. Are they chasing these as byelaws penalties or private tickets?

If they are penalties they "time out" 6 months after the offence. If they are private tickets then this isn't relevant land for POFA.

Not only that but tickets are either one or the other. A byelaws penalty cant turn into a private ticket.

UKPPO are not chasing these as byelaws cases where the PCN relates to an old date like 2014 or 2015.

But there was a brief point where they headed their NTKs as 'penalty' charges.

2016 I think. Then they went back to calling them parking charges again.
