I'm sure you mean incompetence.0 -
The majority of my friends and my partners friends are young, new drivers. They're absolute speed demons. I'm well known amongst our friends to be the slow driver, because I'm driving at the speed limit. A number of our friends and family have received speeding tickets and they're really paying for it now - license no longer clean, a fine to pay, higher insurance premiums... it's never worth it.0

It looks like Volvo are making the mistake of associating speed with death & injuries on the road. What would they know about safety?

I actually think that speed cameras have unwittingly contributed to the attitude to speeding. With the assistance of the tabloid newspaper, many drivers feel victimised so see getting away with speeding as putting two fingers up to the establishment.
Not only that, people I know drive according to whether there are speed cameras around and don't always take conditions into consideration. So speed cameras are a bit of a blunt weapon. I think we should be looking at more intelligent forms of enforcement. Preventing accidents isn't just about slowing cars down, but also preventing them coming to a stop too quickly. Challenging and enforcing gaps between cars is a positive way forward and one I think more people would have sympathy with.0 -
Lol village simpletons living in their own little bubble. Speeding is NOT acceptable. I bet these village half wits will struggle to drive in a busy city like London0

I try and drive as fast or as slow as I feel safe in doing so. I've done over a '100' on the M5 but that was back in 1990, whilst on some country roads come to a bend with 'slow 50' on the road - I'd have to speed up to do that!
These days (and my car not company vehicle) no problem doing between 70 - 80 on the M4.
Agree the Police tend to ignore minor overs, but that's it, with a 70 limit and many people doing 75 no problem, but if 80 limit how long many people are doing 85+ then we may start getting problems.
Likewise with the lower limits in densely populated urban areas 20 limit probably means about 25 mph better than at 35 mph!I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0 -
Erm, because a cyclist going through a red light means hes driving in to traffic that has a green light and has a right of way? Some idiot cyclist bumbling through a red light to save himself a few seconds in to the path of a lorry doesnt sound like the brightest idea in the world?
Most of the time when i see cyclists doing it, they wait until it's safe and clear with no traffic or pedestrians about to cross.
If it's safe and clear with no traffic or people about to cross then it becomes purely a legal concern and not a safety one.
