Lane hogging you have to blame the numerous insurance companies and car producers promoting it.
On telly right now have lane hogging all using SUV! :-
    Honda SUV
    Sauvage
    Mitsubishi
    Mazda
    Hyundai
Wont even mention the insurance companies.

Speed limts were brought in the 60's when brakes were poor. Modern car last 20 years yo would stop in 1/4 the distance. Problem is people are lent upon by the hierarchy rather than sort the problem which is bad driving by whatever means.

Lastly you can have granny in her A35 doing 20mph and out of control yet quite legal, whilst could have an F1 driver totally in control at 160mph. Theres times and places to do it, do they not teach alertness.

How on earth are they related?

Youre just playing a numbers name that the mobile speed van isn't round the next corner ( they haven't got millions of vans you know? )

You come round that bend or over that dip and their hidden ( and this is where they do hide ) doesn't matter if your jenson button....you'd be caught

And anticipation of this kind of "hazard" is part of driving.

My father-in-law never went above 50mph on the motorways.

He took us to the airport one time and it was the scariest drive of my life. We always used taxis after that.

    No mate it's pure luck.

How do they anticipate being followed by an unmarked car?

I remember speaking to a German doctor who used to work for the ambulance service. He was telling me of an incident on the autobahn where a car full of teenagers had left the road and hit a bridge. The heads had come off and they couldn't tell which head belonged to which body.
The places where I do high speeds don’t have anything hard to hit that would cause a sudden stop.

I think you will find most motorways have bridges over them that are pretty solid. At least if you hit one you won't know much about it. Death should be swift.

This 5% is that the number of accidents where the parties were over the speed limit?
    Yes
Or cases including speed too high for conditions.
Did you even read my post? That is classed as excessive speed and was a contributory factor in 6%.
You are using the element as bluntly as a speed camera does.
No I'm not. It is you who haven't read my post properly.
Many accidents could be avoided if vehicles were driving less quickly, over the limit or not.
    Less than 10%.
If you have more time to correct an error, then you can avoid an incident. I don't think it is as simple as you make out.
Driver error was the largest factor by far, ten times more likely to be the cause than speed.

Not if it is done deliberately it isn't.

That's criminal behaviour. If you went through a red light it would be put down as driver error. You would then have to persuade them that it wasn't because you did it on purpose. I think the Police don't really distinguish between driver error and total stupidity.
