The Kitchen is suspiciously Ikea too - its currently in the flat that I rent :) Also, the bathroom suite is from B & Q as its also in the flat im renting :) I definately wouldnt pay £2k for it - I bought all my stuff off ebay and its pretty much a replica of Next Dakota, plus a bed from Next, a few bits of bedroom furniture from Ikea, and a sofa all brand new for under £2k!

Would agree with previous posts - flats - sorry "apartments" - above shops are notorious to sell on! It could become a noisy cafe or a bar with a late licence - or maybe even a lap-dancing club if the local doctor is also a business man (clue - story in todays "News of the Scerws"!).

It does look like an Ikea set and £2.5k is an awful lot of money for second hand ikea goods. I recently moved using a well known firm who weren't sure if my Ikea chest of drawers would make the move, my OH was a bit offend as he put it together.

Perhaps she is charging you extra for hand crafting it i.e. putting it together... :rotfl:

    Good luck!

Through bitter experience and the fact that I still have to buy the crap because I move house so often a lot of existing stuff doesn't fit, I know that no Ikea item will ever make it through more than 2 house moves. Except the kids furniture.

It could finish up as a book...a film maybe.

You could organise coach trips to let people see that classy furniture.

    I could go on...(my OH says that I do)!!!:rotfl:

That will be why the seller wants 14 days to remove the furniture then - splinter by splinter:D
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

£4000? I'm sure that's an Ikea bed (EDIT: HOPEN bedframe - £115) the sidetables are, without a doubt, Ikea MALM - £25 each. And the sofa's aren't expensive. I'm wondering if the chairs are even Ikea POANG chairs. (EDIT - they are. £110 each)

EDIT: I had to go on the Ikea website for these prices okay - I'm not that crazy.

Stop! I'm laughing too hard! Almost feel sorry for the seller with over 13,000 people taking the mick out of her furniture! Well almost!

Seriously though, I agree with everything that has been said about flats over shops. If the market takes a dive, they are usually worst hit. Maybe London isn't so bad though being quite noisy and smelly generally...
  • ghekko. Not sure of your reasons for the location, so sorry if this post doesnt help. But IMHO (I think Doozergirl hinted about this), I would be looking a little more to top right of the central line (snaresbrook, south woodford), even the ex-local properties round there are not too bad....and if you can handle Leyton, then why not Walthamstow or Stratford?. Both are v close to Leyton, and in my opinion offer much better transport links......

What's your top budget?....maybe we can go hunting for you?

oh, and before I forget. The flat. I earlier said I thought you shouldnt be too bothered about keeping the flat based on the vendors behaviour. Having seen the flat, I think that even more now!. I know posters have already pointed out issues around re-selling, but also remember some lenders will be funny about it when re-mortgaging....

oh dear I do feel sorry for these people. Must be terrible everyone laughing at the furniture. I live in a rented flat and it is head to tail Ikea looks good clean lines but it is crap. The stove looks like the stove here. Is it a 5 burner? Looks terrific except the middle burner is higher than the other 4 and so anything you put on there can and will slide off. I looked at a flat to above a lovely homey cafe and I did not buy it. Guess what it is a kabob place now what a lucky escape. I do not think that you can live in this place now. Walk away and think yourself lucky. YOu will look back at this and laugh and everyone will come to your house warming party at your fab new place with your own style of furniture. Taffy
