Buffy, as others have suggested, just get a cleaner.
I just lost control of my house following surgery. Husband thinks a vacuum cleaner is an alien being, hence it was really bad. Had it blitz cleaned on Friday and feel so much calmer. It will be a weekly clean from now on.
You are doing what I was, bit here and bit there but never actually cracking it. This would free you up to do major things that will really make a difference.
Your mother will get used to it and will probably enjoy the company.0 -

At least you have a list...I've got some sort of vague plan that changes on an hourly basis at the moment. Normally I'm queen of lists but I just dare not start one, it will depress me with how much needs to be on it.
My current mantra is "I'll just put it in the garage and deal with it later". It's working so far. (Mind you the plumbers were in the garage all day Friday fitting the new boiler so I started a "bung it in the shed for now pile instead")
I've never fancied a cleaner, cleaning is the easy bit, as long as everything has a home to start with. It's the tidying that takes the time.
Have you got any other nice things to look forward to for the rest of the holidays? Always helps to have some focus."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
I've said it before but I wouldn't be without my cleaner. She's worth the extra tuition I do to pay for her and will be the very last luxury I get rid of if I need to.Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Your place looks amazingYou are doing so well with it. I really do wish I had any sort of enthusiasm for my projects this summer.
I have a date tomorrow night and am seeing D ick on Saturday. I don't know if I am looking forward to either exactly. Dentist Thursday and lunch with a friend on Friday.
Best laid plans etc etc.... The dogs poo'ed in the crate overnight! and the morning somewhat got away from me.
Going to finish my tea and then look in the shed........:eek:Nevertheless she persisted.0 -

on the subject of "self help" books.
if they are on the shelf and your not getting help from them, surely they are doing a disservice being on said shelf, reminding you that your not being helped?
i mean, if we have excess clutter we suggest to others on here to clear it out and maybe even get a couple of quid for the finances etc. . . but surely having things hung around, draining the "mentality budget" is the same?!0 -
Don’t get lost in the shed:p
Not a chance of that happening! I was shocked to find that everything is so overgrown you can barely open the door plus it rained so badly i couldn't use the strimmer!
Instead I did some stuff in my room and made some boring phone calls.
Mum's holiday is in the balance again re her being ill and them not covering her.... we are off to the doctor tomorrow.
Bit of a blah day apart from some texts from the date guy. he is promising!Nevertheless she persisted.0 -
Yesterday was vets, and shopping and then date, which was lovely.
I don't think it will go long time but he talked quite openly about how he would like to take it one step at a time and see what happens.
Today I am helping my sister and the hopefully out with a friend tonight.
Best get on. No clue about the money situation!
