  • This is going to sound so made up but after the death of my DH and my Dd2 falling and badly breaking her elbow while holding our DGD I really thought life could not throw anything worse at me or mine, WRONG!!!!
Monday I got a phone call at work to say ds2 (my baby) was ill and they rung an abmulance. He's 18, with no warning he had a stroke caused by large blood clot in brain. Thank god between our local hospital and the queens medical centre in Notts they saved him. When I saw him on Monday he had no movement on left side, limited speech and was in a really bad way,I was told they had a three hour window to save him! Thankfully they managed to do a thrombectomy at queens and reverse the damage. I can't believe how amazingly he's doing. I've come home tonight for a soak in the bath and clean clothes. He's currently in the stroke Ward at the local hospital but doing brilliant and has regained movemeNt of limbs and speech as well as losing the face drop. The NHS are brilliant!
Thinking of you and your family, sending healing thoughts to your DS and wishing him a speedy recovery.. Please take time to look after you too.. rest when you can! :lovethoug:

In my HHC I got the second of three washloads in the machine, cooked some sausage treats for the dogs and washed up the lunch dishes. Going to play with the dogs for a while before getting back to work.

  • Mrs MP, its amazing how quickly people can recover if they get treated quickly - when FIL was in last summer, he was easily the worst in his rehab place, but within a couple of weeks, he was so much better and ready for discharge with just the damage caused from not being seen after an earlier stroke - some people even walk straight out of hospital within hours.

At the time, they noted his cholesterol was very high and suggested both children got tested (my siblings have inherited very high cholesterol from their father, who died of a stroke in his 40s so I nagged Himself to get it done). Fortunately, both were fine, but it's worth anybody in the family getting tested, including you, just in case that's a factor in your DS forming clots.

Hugs in the meantime, as it's very, very scary.

I didn't do the kitchen last night. It was a flaming mess. Will do it tonight with a big whinge session.

Work is being rubbish and it's pouring down outside. But only two hours until I go home...

  • Big hugs Mrs MP what a lot going on for you. I hope
You are now making use of that sick note (or do you have to get another one now?)

    Hhc completed.

    I set a timer.
    Filled the dishwasher
    S&s kitchen
    Prepped dinner (chicken casserole)
Put it in oven and set timer to auto cook mode.
Had a shift round in the cellar, hubby will go bonkers, but he ought to put his own stuff away properly.
Tidied round in the dining room
Brushed the table (soooo many little grotty bits from all the work we are having done)
    Took the recycling out
Put a serving dish away that somehow seems to have been skulking for days
Put mop & bucket back at the top of cellar stairs
Threw some things in the bin - fling
Straightened the chairs round the dining room table.

    End of challenge.

Now - Love it or list it.

OMG.. MrsMP... what a totally horrendous time you're having!!! I am sending you big bear hugs... I truly hope this is the last of your troubles for at least 30 years.. I think you've done more than your share for this year!! So pleased he is recovering quickly.. we lost my grandad and my uncle to strokes (both at 41) .. many years ago when the care wasn't as immediate and knowledgable as it is now.. So pleased his employers acted fast to get him the help he needed and to the hospital super fast!! xxx Much love.

    I have a begging request...

Is anyone going to a Dunelm in the next few days??? My mother is desperate for a specific pair of curtains.. they have them in the Stockport store but none here.. not sure where else has them.. but of course we would cover postage if someone were able to locate them for us.

You know how it is when you get your heart set on something?

THESE ONES .. in 90x90.. in plum..

  • Upstairs bathroom conspicuously cleaned (I asked Himself to come in and turn the stiff tap for me). Ten minute job, if that (including cleaning the door and a single run of tiles alongside it that I hadn't realised I'd missed - the yuk involved means I don't think I'll forget again).

Came down and he finally clearing the sides from last night. but he's cooking, so there will be more to sort afterwards, I reckon.

And the electrician obviously had dirty boots today. This is not pleasing me. But the new controls look very fancy [strike]largely unintelligible[/strike], even though they've insisted upon another CO alarm eight inches from the existing one and put the thermostat in the warmest bit of downstairs, rather than where it was needed.

I think Saturday will be putting stuff that came out for the work [strike]in the bin before Himself wakes up[/strike] away and sorting out the hall/living room floor and lots of dust.
