shez i have never seen our robin at the nuts, if i wedge a fat ball in the crook of the tree he will eat at that but just by standing on the tree not clinging on, watch with putting seeds on garden ground as those not eaten can sprout like weeds, though probably not in winter
for the robin i put out any crumbs, grated cheese etc the blackbirds like pinching the cats tinned meat chunks and they like apples too, its usually blue tits, siskins and sparrows that eat the nuts hanging up here
thanks twink/cheerfulness!!
yes I was worried about pigeons but forgot mice etc! I have thrown some bread crumbs out, so see if he eats it tomorrow! and yes he does tend to hop along the conifers and bushy plants (thought id better not just put "hoppin in my bush" as I know there would be some funny comments:p )
ps: twink - ive got your fruit cake in my oven now! smells good! just being careful with my fan oven so it doesnt get cremated before the inside cooks!0 -
put some tinfoil on the top of the cake then shez and think the fan oven should be at 140oc is that right, kyle has one and i think its 20 below ordinary ovens, fingers crossed it doesnt sink

I have a few other recipes printed out from the old index but not many I'm afraid.

Hi all - just calling in before DH gets home.
REDRUBY - yes, just look for a really 'strange' man in short white overalls, usually up a ladder!
Just wanted to send many many (((((((((Hugs))))))))) to all who are suffering from the stomach bug - it sounds absolutely horrible and it seems to have caught more people than the thread cold.
Hope Adam is doing well, PINK.
Well, I have lovely stew in the SC, dumplings now added, HM soft rolls just waiting to be dunked in it and plum & pear crumble in the oven. That will be us stuffed for the evening!
I went to the gym this morning and thoroughly enjoyed it - it's such a lovely atmosphere there that it does the soul good. I went to the bank and - would you believe it - no queue! I also resisted the urge to visit any other shops except Sainsbury's where I only bought the paper and some milk. I've spent the afternoon working and I'm looking forward to an evening knitting and dozing. Bliss.
Well, better go and get the kettle on for his lordship's cuppa when he gets in.
Have a great evening, all.

Hi everyone
Just managed access, though poor wi-fi connection = very slow.
Had a brilliant journey through Spain/France so far, only about half an hour of rain first thing this morning, other than that dry to rather cold now.
Went up the med coast of Spain and past Barcelona before stopping for the first night, not a very OS hotel, but dark nights and Barcelona traffic didnt help. Tuesday went over the Pyrenees. Stopped on the border at Le Perthus, and strolled round the shops and had our breakfast at lunch time (paid too much for hotel and breakfast was going to be dear too) had a 4 course meal for 10€, very good. Then went up the coast and turned up to cross the Millau Bridge and stay last night at Clermont Ferrant, back to the Premier Class Hotels again, less than 50€ for a room for 2 people including breakfast. Tonight at Amiens, just going to treat ourselves to a meal at their sister hotel Campanile, where they give us a free drink and 10% off the food/drink bill.
We cross over late tomorrow night, so will try to get on again Friday.
AMIE - sorry you are feeling so duff. ((Hugs)) to you and to everyone else under the weather.
PINK - glad DS is on the mend.
Take care

Hello all,
Have had an awful night/day. Just cooking some dinner and then I am going to have a bath. The washing is drying in front of the fire.
Have a good one :beer:We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -
Hi everyone
I have been reading through the day but still can't thank or post. I have to be brief as I have had a bad day. Just want to say sorry to hear about those who are poorly or whose offspring poorly. Hope you have a better day tomorrow.
SIL had his scan today and the news is that the lumps not sinister - more likely to be cists. DGS2 had a breathing attack today and he is in hospital! Not sure if it is asthma. Can't do without nebuliser for more than 2 hours! SIL at hospital overnight and DD didn't want to stay with DGS3 (18 weeks) in case he caught something. I think they have made the right decision. Told her to put DGS1 into nursery tomorrow and I will go over, pick him up, have lunch and take him to gymnastics. Best to keep things normal I think.
Sorry to dwell on my problems (again!) tonight but you are all there to share!
Love and hugs to you all.

PS One mention to Kyle - I know about World Diabetes Day today and I thought of you when mentioned on Breakfast this morning. SIL has it in his family and so worried it comes down to the boys. Take care!

Shez How did The Titanic go? Did she sink.
Twink I"m casting on today.
Janny I'll keep an eye out for them.
I saw all your comments about Robin's. I think they are the most beautiful, sweet, petite, gorgeous birds in the world. So much more class than those oversexed hens.
Well better make tracks. Sleep well everyone & hope everyone that's not well feel better in the morning.ByeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0
