Next door neighbour still being noisy despite telling her...

  • It doesn't need to be a formal chat you have with her, maybe she doesn't want to feel as if she has to meet you and your housemate at a set location to discuss something that she sees no issue with.

Could you try chatting to her over the garden fence where the atmosphere may be a little less intimidating or challenging.

If she didn't feel as if she wanted to meet me, I wonder why she suggested this in the first place? I can only go upon what she had tried to arrange?

That would be good so we're both not feeling intimidated, but I never ever see her in her garden, just always in her house. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

OP, just for clarity no one has said you are bullying your neighbour, what was said that she may perceive the putting of a note through her door as such.....it's not beyond the possibility, old lady, lives alone etc.

Anyway, I've tried to help but i'm not sure you can appreciate that, unfortunately waylaid by a keyboard warrior in the process), so I'll leave the thread alone.

The answer isn't listening to other people with the same problem telling you how terrible it all is however.

Other than telling the OP she is correct to be bothering this woman what do you propose that would be helpful?

    Genuine question.

What would be helpful is for you and a few others, to speak in a way you would like to be spoken to.

So phil how much would soundproofing a whole house cost?

I understand the reason if its a music studio 100% but I'm interested to know the cost involved to rectify the sounds of loud phone conversations that could take place in any part of the house.
and going forward how effective would the noise reduction be?

I'm simply seeing it at the moment as a huge expense and invasive procedure for something that possibly wont diffuse the situation.

IF you are having the sound proofing done to block out your noise to a near neighbour ie your drums I see that as a proactive thing, but in this case I see it as reactive to a situation that the OP feels cant be tamed any other way.Thats where the problem lies is in the way both neighbours are not communicating as presumably neither feels they are upsetting the other.

there must be a better way to deal with this other than the physical barrier of soundproofing...the defensive walls that have built up over a few short weeks since the OP moved in are the problem here....that one noise could end up being tamed but the undercurrents will still flow freely until something else begins to grate one or both of them.

    Hi PhilE.

I've re-read my contribution to this thread to see if I have been unpleasant, unhelpfull, disrespectful or abusive to anyone.

Can you give me an example of what you mean in your above post please?

I don't mean a sentence or phrase posted out of context BTW :)

    Cheers.

So don't buy a house that has been soundproofed then 'need an answer.'

Assume that every sound proofed house is because of a neighbors dispute, and avoid.

I felt it was implied by yourself, so for my own clarity, I had to put across my stance on that, just in case. I know how things can get blown out of proportion so I am taking no risks here.

I do appreciate the help, of course, but only when it is helpful and not with assumptions made without proper reading.

I am now very well akcnowledged in what the answer is and I would appreciate, again, in avoiding making assumptions or, at least, subtle implication towards it.

I don't intend to buy a sound proofed house...I mearly rasied the subject as I assumed you had some experience of it after I read and thanked your post for its contents

If you were able to provide an insight into costings I thought it may prove useful to the OP when considering her options

  • Stick to the facts as given by the op.

How do you know they are facts? And not just opinions, whether reasonable or not, or say, proportional, or blown out of all proportion?

I see where you are coming from, but please be assured that I am being honest, as I have mentioned I do see it from her side. From what I have gathered, it seems like some seem to want to almost automatically go against what I am saying and assume the negative, which does seem to be the world we are living in now.
