Can anyone help with an Avon problem please?
I've been allocated an old rep's territory which wasn't made clear to me when I signed up last week. Several people were really rude to me when I gave the books out/collected them in and one guy even slung the book in my face and ranted at me that he was fed up of telling "us lot" that he doesn't want to buy our "cr*p". Apparently the estate has been canvassed, against several household's wishes, several times in the last year.
Avon keep re-allocating this estate because the rep who is supposed to do it doesn't re-canvass. She has a handful of loyal customers, including most of the good ones from my estate, and never re-canvasses to check for new customers. So this means that I've unwittingly had to canvass everyone including the customers she still serves. This is why the others before me quit apparently (I spoke to the rep on the adjacent estate).
I feel a bit used to be honest! I've had 7 orders from 80 houses totalling £120. So for my 7hrs work I've earned £16.50 so far. About 15 of those 80 houses are under this other rep and another 30 don't want to receive brochures. Out of the rest of the estate, another 40 houses that I did tonight, 3 were vacant, 4 chased me down the drive to give me the brochure back and 6 said they already had an Avon lady (presumably some of these mean the rep I've been talking about).
The short question, after all of that, is: Am I flogging a dead horse here?0 -
Hi all and thanks for the useful posts in the past few days.
Well I've been out tonight and collected my first batch of orders.
I got a reasonable amount of books back, about 20 per cent asked me not to bother in future (but nicely!), one street told me they already had an Avon lady so I will take this up with my ASM tomorrow (I was annoyed, but hey...what can you do?) I also was told by one lady that she wasn't placing a large order as the last time someone did this round they took orders then never came back!! I suppose that at least when they see me coming regularly they will see I'm reliable.
In terms of orders I didn't do so great, but a lot of people were out and 4 have asked me to call back tomorrow. I got five orders totalling about £50...
I'm printing off some slips tomorrow to say 'Sorry I Missed You' and telling them they can contact me to place a phone order up until 12pm Thursday if the same people aren't home again. Hopefully this will get my orders up a bit and also show them I do call back when I say I will.
I'm going to do some offers for my next campaign as well.
If anyone has any other suggestions to make the next campaign more successful I would truly welcome them!
Thanks

Oh Elle...I thought I had a bad one...I don't think your orders were too bad though to be honest. I'd have been well pleased with that for my first campaign! I did 120 houses by the way...Have a look at my post above to see how much I earned! I'd stick with it and ask your area manager to give you a new territory because you don't mind hard work, but you could do without abuse! Let us know how you get on

I was pleased until I worked out how much I'd actually made for all my efforts! I didn't expect to get so much but now I've got it, I realise I've earned about £1.50 an hour. I suppose I'll get quicker as I weedle out the not interested houses though. And like you say, where there's a high rep turnover - people don't want to order in case you don't stick around. On the flip side though, I worry that people have ordered because the brochure was a novelty and they now won't want anything again for three months!
I bet next campaign I'm back here saying I got £50 and you're here saying you got £200...
In the meantime, I think we'll both be having chats with our ASMs.0 -
I'm not even going to do the maths on mine Elle lol
I'm glad to have something to do as well as a bit of extra cash to be honest...but when you work it out it is a bit depressing!
I'm seeing mine tomorrow so will report back. best of luck with yours and keep us informed!0 -
Oh well looks like I was far too tempted in HT as my order for non comission items was £99 ooops:o. At least it took my PC total to £400 tho which is what I needed. Still I made £71 even after that was taken off so can't be too bad. At least Im not in the - figures:D0

That's great Juzyb! So items from HT count towards you PC total? That's good to know...I need loads of stuff. i was looking at buying the £60 boost your business kit. Has anyway bought it and was it any good?
I'm definitely getting the £10 one - that looks great value for money0 -
