Hi all i got my baskets from tesco they were on;ly the value baskets but they looked nice and had like a cloth lining in and i got the cellophane off ebay i think it was £3.30 and you could pick a colour of ribbon to tie it with.

I have split my streets i will have 3 streets on book 6 and 2 streets on book 5 but i think after this 1 i will put all my strets on the same 1 because im going to ask for more streets.

    Hi there!!

I've been an avon rep for just over a year now! I have about 20 core customers and my tips are below, sorry if I'm repeating other people:

    - Always fold down pages of good deals and also smelly pages.
    - Insert the order form in a smelly page
    - Its worth getting just a few little samplers at first of the perfurmes, pop them in with the brochure to try and get some new customers
    - I do a monthly special offers sheet which I put in with my brocures and I always put the brochure in a small sandwich bag so its easier to place samples and any other info in.
    - At christmas I got some little gifts for my regular customers
    - Take your avon book to work if you can and get your friends to take theirs to their works, my OH and his mum take books to work, I get about 3 orders from there a campaign and about 3 orders from my work.
    - I also leave it in the local pub for the ladies there and I have picked up about 3 customers from there.
    - You'll get to know who is going to order and who isn't eventually and you will get your core customers, which means you can cut down on the brochures you take out, saving money there too.
    - I always redrop my territory once in Summer and once before Christmas because people will love the sun cream offers and the christmas gifts.
    - I found doing avon a great way to get christmas pressies as I go along through the year, especially now they are doing lots of brand name stuff!

If i think of anything else i'll post!

    Hello All

I signed up as a rep 3 days ago. I'm doing C6. Got 1 order posted through my door on first day! Was thrilled. I was really surprised at how keen some ladies were to get their hands on a book. It is a real confidence boost when people say things like "I'd love one. I've been trying to find out who did Avon for a while" and "oh yes please. I order all my toiletries from Avon but my rep moved a while ago" So fingers crossed. I'm hoping for some more orders soon!

I love the tips about getting freebies like the bags in C5. Has anyone spotted anything in C6 for us reps. It all seems to be buy xxx and get yyy free. Please let me know if you've spotted anything, I'm still very new to all this.

Avon is fab for free gifts! My customers went mad over the free beauty bonus in campaign 4, and because you had to spend £15 to get it, lots of commission for me!

I think the Cynthia Rowley stuff in Campaign 7 will do well aswell.

My order is now showing up as being sent to carrier - it's in 5 boxes!!! that seems like a lot - do avon go a bit mad with packaging or something?

Hi no.. not necessarily, sometimes if you get free gifts they come in a box of their own which bumps the number of boxes up. I think mine said 8 boxes for the last campaign but i only had 4 in the end, it was because of the free gifts. A bit weird, but you get used to it!

    Good luck!!

Hi Wirelover, how many houses do you have in your territory... and how are you making so much money?!!

Are you using the baskets as an incentive prize for those who order the most or something?

    Sounds like a good idea!

Hi lostindebt i now have about 220 houses on my territory but some of my customers have goten me more custmoers,i did use the mothers day baskets as an incentive to draw them in and on book 5s order form i put "Fathers day basket coming soon" so they know that i will be offering somthing else soon, It also helps me that my partner is a lottery collector for warrington wolves so some of his customers know me through him.

I have also stole sp0z's idea  for the loyalty card and i will be giving them out over the next few books, but im doing it were they will receive 25% gift voucher to spend when ever thay want,my partner worked it out for me that i just lost my commishion on who ever ordered and if i space giving the cards out iv got less chance of every1 giving my there voucher at the same time.
When i have to knock on for the books its also nice to try and engage in a chat,my ladies are 20-40 and they love a good chat bless them i do have a few that keep me there for quite a while as well :o

i was also thinking of buying some cream eggs and putting them in with there orders just to say happy easter :)

Hi wirelover..! Some good ideas in there! I like the creme eggs one especially!

I've got 90 houses in my territory, but I found some of the residents were quite rude to me the first time round and some already have an avon lady who works in the post office down the road so I have to avoid her customers!

I've got 12 houses now I go to every time and then the customers from various workplaces so my income is limited really at the moment. I need to try and re-drop I just begrudge buying the campaign books sometimes!

I like the discount and loyalty card idea, I think I will do that, its a good way to reward the people who order from me all the time and to avoid the £2 orders I sometimes get!

I did give them a little xmas pressie each at christmas which they appreciated i think...!

I did some little gift bags for a raffle at the local pub recently but it didn't really go down any great shakes..I suppose you can't win over new customers every time!

  • It really does seem to be where you live, some rep's seem to have hundreds of customers the min they start and others work really hard and have none!!

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
I used to be an Avon rep. I haven't read this whole thread but take it someone's suggested having a party?

I used to do this about once every 3-6 months and got LOADS of orders that way. I used to do a raffle too - sometimes I did 2 or 3 raffles. Make sure you've got a really good prize for each and I used to charge 50p per ticket or 3 for £1. If it was a GREAT prize (like a weekender bag or something) I'd charge £1 per ticket and people would buy 5 at a time!

Also used to give out little free gifts if you spent more than £15 or whatever, worked a treat too.

Good luck - it can be hard work but it can be good if you get into it.

I worked really hard at the beginning but I got tired of rude people and people either chucking my brochures away or just ignoring the door when I went round to collect.

I have a nice little customer base now so I'm happy with the level of sales, I just wish some of them would spend a little more, hoping the loyalty and gift basket idea might inspire them.
