I used to be an Avon rep. I haven't read this whole thread but take it someone's suggested having a party?

I used to do this about once every 3-6 months and got LOADS of orders that way. I used to do a raffle too - sometimes I did 2 or 3 raffles. Make sure you've got a really good prize for each and I used to charge 50p per ticket or 3 for £1. If it was a GREAT prize (like a weekender bag or something) I'd charge £1 per ticket and people would buy 5 at a time!

Also used to give out little free gifts if you spent more than £15 or whatever, worked a treat too.

Good luck - it can be hard work but it can be good if you get into it.

I did Avon for a few years, and the parties can be a really good way of getting new customers and bigger orders.
For example, you can see if one of your customers wants to host a party-hopefully the people they invite will be new customers for you.
You can offer very basic beauty treatments-a manicure, mini facial, even some simple nail art.
These you can do free,or make a minimal charge.
Make up cute little goody bags with as many samples as you can afford, and a card with your contact details-telephone,and email if you have one.
If I wasn't so busy I would love to go back to doing it,as I really enjoyed it.
What you have to think is if you could fit in 1 or 2 parties each campaign, you could really bump up your sales.
Hope some of these ideas help!
Well I know you want to love her,but let me tell you brother, she's been sleeping in the devils bed...:A

  • Okay - General first outlay is £15 admin fee charged in your first two campaigns - this includes brochures for your first two campaigns - a few leaflets explaining things, order forms, a book to help you and explain things and the copy of hello tomorrow (the book which demonstrates the new products for two campaigns ahead and where you can see samples stationary etc)

Brochures are: around 4.76 for 3 packs of 5, then drop down to 46p per pack after the initial 3.

Bags - Are very cheap, the most expensive is the large paper bag - pack of 50 is 99p and all the others are cheaper than that. Plastic bags are 3p for small 6p for large

Samples - Around 20p per lipstick 60p per 5 perfume vials 15p per foundation sample and i can't think of anymore!!

to join i went onto the Jobcentreonline.coom website and searched avon and it brought my local sales leader up - i phoned her at 10AM Mon morn, she was here by 8PM Mon evening and i was an avon rep!! Scarily easy!! lol - Do let us know how u get on

    Hiya Jess

Hope that you are well. I started doing Avon about 6 weeks ago, am just at the end of my second campaign, and loving it!

Whereabouts are you. If you post your location (even just a generalised one), you may have the sales leader from the area come on here anyway so can contact you directly.

Initial outlay is 15 pounds, split into two payments and charged on your invoices, so you dont pay upfront, but when you're up and running. Samples are not a necessity, I've been holding off on these for the time being just to make sure that its going to be worth doing, and I'm not just paying out of my profit.

What happens as well, which i wasnt explained properly, is you get the orders, submit them, get the cash when you deliver, and then pay the invoice after that. What I do is get the cash from the orders, pay for the order from my cash card, then I have the money from AVON to get me through the month and I dont have to touch my bank account, meaning its a lot easier for me to save up. The money you get from the orders is a higher amount that the invoice (as long as you hit minimum order value of 74 pounds) so thats how you get your commission.

Two levels of commision, either 20& or 25% dependant on the minimum order value. I thought I struggle to get to the higher banding, but havent done so far at all (for 25% you need to get about 144 pounds in orders). To be honest, I tend to get that on the first brochure drop.

I also thought I;d have to rely on freinds and family to get orders as well, but didnt realise how receptive people were to 'ding dong Avon calling' n all that. Everyones been really polite, even if they havent been interested

I'm more than happy doing Avon, My first order was approx 400 pounds, this one will be a bit late, but the weather has been shocking, my' dayjob' has been busier, and my son has been poorly. Thats the beauty of avon tho, it doesnt matter if you have other commitments in your life, you can just work around them, or even miss a campaign.

Just drop me a pm if you want to know anything else x

Thank you for the tips - lostindebt, very helpfull. Fab idea bout the cream eggs wirelover I am definately going to do that.

Have left a book with a local nursery. Was thinking of getting some chocs for the children or should I get chocs for the adults (if order is worth it of course) any suggestions? Adults or Children?

Have left a book with charity shop and offered them 10%.

There are some fantastic offers in C6. I got an order this morning and was just looking at it. If you buy the £3 eye make up remover you get a free mascara. How cheap is that!!!

Have got 3 orders back so far and am still rather giddy about the whole business.
  • Yeah campaign 6 is really good! I thought so too! very cheap

The other thing I did that was very, very popular.
I got contacted by a local school who were doing a fundraising event, they took a load of brochures and got orders from the parents and their friends, then I put all the orders together and split the comission with them.
I also did that in my local pub,for a little boy who was ill, everyone ordered, and then I split the comission-along with donating several spare products I had for a raffle.
Anything like that will help you get more customers and sales,as well as helping out local charities.
