  • I don't know if it's me but I feel like my Sales leaders (must have had 5 in the last 3 years) are just not helpful. They ring once in a while to see if I am placing an order, they don't try and get you to do better, they just leave you on your own, they never give you new streets (or they do give you 3 little ones a month after you asked them), I know my area's great, full of old ladies that love their Avon, but although I am not looking to make any money out of Avon I understand that some reps just feel like they can't be bothered after a while. My stepdaughter is the same she's been a rep for 2 years, but for one of them the only orders she's placed were for herself and her mother in law !
  • Yep! I second that
Mine is really friendly and 'helpful' when I eventually manage to get her on the phone, but never returns calls or answers e-mails. It was a very different story when she came round to sign me up; she was all smiles and encouragement.
I suppose it could be worse though - one of my customers tried being a rep herself for a while, but was put off by a SL who was never off the phone nagging her to do the full hard sell. Even when she put in her first order of over £100 after only having the books for a day or two, the SL only said 'oh well, I suppose it's better than nothing'

  • That is terrible. Poor lady.

I am only in contact with my SL when I phone her and again she is never really helpful. She said she would call me back and never did so I had to do all the chasing. I feel a bit miffed about Avon at the moment as everyone on here seems to be doing incredibly well. I have 25 regular customers from a base of 250 houses. Only 85 of them are actually interested in looking. A couple of them ordered this time for the first time after 6 months of me putting the book through the door, but on the other hand a couple of them also told me not to put the book through as they never order from Avon. Six months and they then tell me - come on I know it will save time in future but why does it take these people so long!!!!!

I have never been contacted by my SL to tell me how well I am doing/not doing. It wouldn't hurt to have a phone call once every couple of months would it?
  • Hi All

Hope you are well.. i am still freting about the credit limit on my 1st load of orders, i think having to pay money uipfront is really naughty as they never told me this to start with! Grr

Anyway, has anyone got any ideas on how to get new customers without going door to door?! I have no territory in my area! So looking for new ways to get people to look at Avon :j

I do think Avon has a very large 'womens custom base' there is mens/kids things in the books so how could i get men to look at the books?! The only man to look at a book so far is my boyfriend!

Any suggestions would be fab! :T

 I am really confuesed as to who is the sales leader?! I have just started Avon and i had a lady call me to set everything up ie. account, she sent me my 1st load of brochures etc

She called me cos i live in rural wales and she is based in birmingham so I will actually never see her face to face!?

So is this my SL, the lady who set me up!?

  • If anyone else can come up with ideas, I'll probably nick them myself :p

How about handing out business cards or leaflets outside your local school (easier if you're the right age group to identify with the Mums)?

I've also done some leaflets saying something like 'if you want and Avon book and don't get one, then ring..........' I figured no-one could object to that, since I'm not asking them to desert their usual Avon person ;) I tried putting them through doors in areas where I suspected there was no rep. However...100 leaflets and no replies  I have to say, I wonder if it just 'kills' the area - if you just give someone a book they will sometimes be tempted to buy. It's worth considering though.

You could try ads on local notice boards?

Perhaps someone else will give us some ideas!

Does it occur to you that blokes hardly ever buy for themselves anyway, but leave it to Mum/girlfriend/wife? :rotfl:

Any ideas would be fab!

Indeed Elliebee, I am 5 months pregnant so I wont be standing outside school gates just yet; but could be a possibility! :T

Maybe we need to be encouraging the males to buy for themselves and there women/mums!? Just not sure where/how to approach the male forms?!

  • Do we have any MALE reps here!?

  • There is a male rep on this board.... am positive... can't remember name though..... **thinks**

My SL is my ASM... sometimes she can be v.good and other times awful. However, the point of Avon is supposedly "your own business" so support from SL/ASM shouldn't be needed.. but I found (and I was a SL for a v.short while due to ASM problems) that to get territory for new reps or for myself.. I had to keep asking ASM which is/was very annoying but also I would get territory for new reps to find that it was someone elses

Personally I find a thread like this is great - people bouncing ideas off each other as well as helping newbies etc :)
  • Deanos is male - his wife is a rep or I think SL? Deanos - do you sell avon yourself? I have a feeling you said you did?
