For what appears to have been several months, if one spends £20 in the M&S section of a BP petrol garage which has an attached Marks & Sparks franchise, you get 10p per liter off fuel.

The problem is that you have to spend that amount in the M&S section and THEN fill with fuel! That means that most petrol pumps are filled with empty cars because their owners have gone to spend the £20+ AFTER filling up!

This would be so much easier sorting out if, after one spends £20+ in the M&S section, one could receive a voucher offering 10p/litre off petrol, enabling the vehicle owner to revisit the same garage later to use (without clogging up a petrol pump)!

    Bill.

I just get the butler to sort it out while I go and shoot some grouse.

Thank you for reading this message.
  • Are you serious I can spend £50 on packed lunches for 1 week for only myself!

Then again I'm doing upwards of 4k calories a day haha, ain't cheap!
  • I've used PetrolPrices.com for many years, so I'm a little surprised that it's taken Martin L until now to highlight it. My local ASDA is usually the cheapest for fuel. When I go on holiday in the UK, I always look up the cheapest places (just off the Motorway!) about every 50-100 miles of my planned route & make a note of their Post Codes so that I can divert to them if I need to add fuel. The extra effort of pre-holiday planning usually saves quite a lot of money! (Certainly compared to Motorway prices.) As expect, most cheaper pick-up points are supermarkets, but I do come across the odd commercial (lorry) stop that is cheaper.

The AA app also now has a fuel prices screen built in that's pretty good. I still get on ok with PetrolPrices app, but the two are pretty complementary.
  • Regarding the Tesco offer - has anyone tried buying something over £60 like https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/300696499, using the fuel voucher then returning the item?

I wonder how they deal with that?

Take the fuel discount from the refund maybe...

Interesting. I wonder if they would a) know in the store that you have used it (probably not) or b) ask for the voucher when they process the refund.

  • Careful with the Tesco Fuel Offer, check the dates ! ! !. Have just been doing the weekly shop at Tesco spent well above the £ 60 total, and when I recieved my Fuel Voucher it states " OFFER VALID ONLY UNTIL 31 / 10/ 2018 and not as the team on M.S.E. says Sunday 4th November.

Just a heads up people !!!.
  • On check-out, received receipt for 10p off a litre, anyone know if this can be used in Esso fuel stations, seeing as they give Tesco CC points?
