My car is now mine!!!! I have made the last payment on it!
I know have one more debt of £531 to pay off and I will be debt free... apart from the mortgage, but even without additional payments there are 65 payments left until that's gone anyway. I have joined the pay off all your debts by xmas 2020 challenge, and with a combination of not having the car payments to make and hopefully being paid back a debt owed to me I should hopefully get that paid off before xmas.
It will be quite strange, once I pay this off I will be debt free for the first time since I was 18, which is nearly 30 years ago... I have been so foolish with money for such a long time, so I am hoping that I can be a lot more sensible in the future so when I retire (in about 30 years!) I will have some savings to live on, as my pension will not be much as I've never earned the "average" wage so have not been able to put much in.Declutter 2025 in 2025 0/20252 -

Hi abba,it really was great when I paid it off, getting the confirmation letter from the finance company was a pretty special day too.I gave in to temptation and bought some chocolate from an famous online site, was even better because I got 50% off as its a special offer.I have decided that in the next few months I will be probably giving up one of the activities I do, either chaning to a different one or giving up altogether, that is the final decision I have to still make.I have downloaded a free language app and will see how far it gets me in learning a new language, if I'm not too bad at it I might look into an evening class for it depending on venue and cost.I need to stop spending money becausse I'm bored and get on and make the stuff I have planned to do - this will mean I don't have to spend money on anything much other than fuel for a while.Declutter 2025 in 2025 0/20251

Having a day catching up on paperwork and washing today.OH and child are working in the garden - they're going to replant it all and put some vegetables seeds in to see if they grow, child is doing it partly for a potential badge from a guiding/scouting organisation but mainly to see if they can grow peas, which are a favourite (not with me though!).Declutter 2025 in 2025 0/20251

well done chocolatedrinker - late to your diary but had a quick shuffle through it all - delighted that Page 1 was - here's my position and I'm going to do something about it, and then the last page was the loan is all paid off, and I'm nearly done with everything else.
Good luck with your challenge to get everything else done by end of 2020. I'm hoping to do similar and we have same sort of time left on the mortgage as well !I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Not spent any money today, yay! I think my next thing in trying to reduce spending, save money, decluttering etc. should be setting myself targets for no spend days each month. I'm hoping this will help me pay off my last debt faster, then I can start saving for a holiday for my 25th wedding annversary, which will be a couple of years after the mortgage has been paid off.I still have a credit card in case of emergency, but I haven't spent anything on it so far this year, which (sadly) is impressive for me. When I think about it I couldn't tell you what I bought with any of my other credit cards that I had to take out loans to pay off, just that I wanted it at the time, didn't need it and in the case of a lot of the stuff I bought I probably never used it.Apart from anything else, like a lot of people I don't have a lot in a pension so need to save up for retirement.Declutter 2025 in 2025 0/20252

Have had several confirmations in the post that I have paid off the loan, so I am happy .Its my birthday today, so as part of getting older I need to think about my financial pplans and goals for the next year or so, especially since lockdown may continue for quite some time.I also need to stop spending so much money on things to do that are building up in my bedroom.Talked my husband into getting Netflix so I could watch Tiger King as everyone has been talking about it. It was fascinating, I didn't realise there were so many big cats and other wild animals in captivity in one country.Declutter 2025 in 2025 0/20250
