Lovely to hear from you again, and great news that you're settling into the new job.

Good luck with the decluttering... I think concentrating on one room at a time definitely helps. :)

  • Day one of 12 weeks of self isolation and I'm going crackers already! I took some things in to work as other people could need them before 10th June. Other than that trying to work from home is hard.
Got last things from shop after taking child to school, cancelled hairdresser. Glad I got my car sorted on Monday.
Day 2 - so far done work, worried about what child is going to do to keep them quiet for weeks as all activities and events cancelled. Need to go to chemist late on today, fortunately they are open late so I can go over when its quiet.

  • Day 3 of 84... working from home again. Have had an order of wool delivered - will be trying to start knitting a wrap this weekend, to keep me warm and toasty when working in our (freezing) kitchen. Have also done 2 pages of my sketchbook project and am hoping to get a few more pages done this weekend as I need to get it sent in by May I think to get its full inclusion in the project.
Also having to home school from next week, potentially until September, fortunately I have some links to useful resources and various Scout and other badges that my child can earn over the next (possibly) 6 months!!!!
Also my OH is also having to self isolate so there will be 2 of us trying to work from home and childmind at the same time.
We have enough food in to keep us going for a couple of weeks apart from fresh foods and milk, but hopefully that will not be too much in short supply as it can't be stock piled very easily.
Need to sort out my bedroom at some point as well, may try and do that this weekend so that I can put stuff away and sort out more things for the charity shop to be delivered when they are next open.
Also want to try and get the washing up to date over the next couple of days so that at least I achieve something in my spare time.
Hoping to put some of my next pay into my savings account as I have spent quite a bit over the last week buying books, toys etc to keep me and the child busy whilst we are having to stay in the house.

  • Day 5 of self isolating, although apparently I am no longer on the vulnerable persons list... can I go back to work then? Because I'd much rather work at work than work from home, especially as my child is now off school.
Have done washing, knitting and started completing my sketchbook for the sketchbook project run by Brooklyn Art Library.
Have ordered a load of chunky wool on special offer to make myself a wrap and also some cushion covers - as there is not much to do evenings and weekends for the foreseeable it'll give me something to do.
The Scouting group I help out with is looking to set up a virtual scout group, hopefully this will be useful for the children and I have already expressed interest from the child in an online camp, online St George's Day and campfire event.

  • Day 9 (I think) of self isolating. Still working from home though, OH is also now working from home (in a different room fortunately). Child is already refusing to do school work so this is going to be a long however-many-weeks schools are shut.
Not sleeping properly due to worrying, spending far too much on stuff online, and generally want to scream at the moment. Glad I got the car MOT'd when I did though since it'd be a nightmare trying to get it booked in now before the extension date comes.
I get paid in the next couple of days, so I'm going to have to try and shuffle some money into savings before I decide that I need x, y. z and have it spent in a week. Although, I did put a very beautiful dish in an online shopping basket yesterday then not buy it when I told myself I didn't need it I wanted it and those are two very different things.

Well done chocolate on restraining the spendy demon!  It is difficult getting used to the new normal.   I'm having to pick my battles with my teenager.  Have followed your diary with interest from the start; first time of posting.  Humdinger x
  • Hi Humdinger!
Sorry the diary isn't more exciting!
Went shopping today, I work for NHS in non-frontline service, but my ID card still gets me in to the shop earlier, which is great as me & OH both have medical conditions where we need to self shield. Now I've topped up with various bits and pieces I should be able to avoid going out for a couple of weeks.
Even better I only have a week of work left before I am off for 2 weeks - I get time to do more craft stuff and use up some of my stash as I can't go out. Plus it means that I can do some fun stuff with the child, We have some onlne Scouting activities to take part in and I'm hopng that we can get some badge work done so when she goes back she can collect a few badges as I don't want her to fall behind the other kids who started at a similar time to her.
I also need to get the badges transferred from one uniform to the next as some of the badges move from one group to the next, good job I can sew!

Not at all choccie; it's the day to day detail that's fascinating.   What is taking some getting used to is a slow but constructive pace.   There's little that has to be done right here, right now.  I think it's healthy though as the 'always on' mode bears some blame for the build up of debt problems,  in my view.  Humdinger
