I'm not sure where you got that from, still seems to show 3.5% on the A&L website! http://www.alliance-leicester.co.uk/savings/flexible-isa.aspx

On the other hand the Santander Flexible ISA has gone down to 3.2%! :o
  • Just spent 10 mins on the phone... "we are very busy please hold"... then eventually it connected to a mailbox then cut me off!

Someone posted the link to the online application above - has any just filled that in and does it work, considering that they say you cannot apply online!?
  • Further to above post - my wife has recently broken her leg (preventing her from getting to a branch to apply) but just as recently has come into some money (preventing her from investigating this previously)! Just seen that the Nationwide e-ISA doesn't allow online applications right now so has anyone else come across one that is easy enough to open without having to get to a branch. I figured the important thing is to use the allowance and then transfer to a better paying ISA if necessary next week?

Showing 3.2% on both sites now.
  • Not sure if already mentioned by previous posts ( and I dont have time to read 51 pages!) BUT I have just fixed up my Cash Isas for the next two years with Saga who are giving me 3.6% fixed. This was the best one or two year deal I could find PLUS you can transfer previous years in. You will need £30,000 existing ISA savings to get that rate AND will have you to deposit your full 2010-2011 ISA allowance to qualify. Not the greatest of rates but last year I only got 3.2% and we all have to work hard to make the most of our money do we not?????

I applied today over the phone with A&L to be told product is to be withdrawn immediately - Lady said I was very lucky as thew would honour my application and everyone booked at the branch, but further applications by phone would not be accepted!

  • If you have already got your A&L ISA set up and plan to transfer funds today or tomorrow it won't make the end of tax year deadline if you make the payment via the Direct Debit facility from the A&L end. Well this is certainly the case if the account you are taking the funds from is a non A&L account. I just tried and the payment date came up at April 7th.

Ringing the support line, the solution is to make a bank payment from the account where you wish to transfer the funds from.

    Sort Code: 72-58-10
    Account: 00000000
    Reference: Your A&L Account Number

This method for me was instant. I know in future how I'll be transferring money.

I opened one yesterday at my local A&L branch. In the end I had to go to the nearby NatWest (The money I'd set aside for the ISA was in a NatWest account) and got them to transfer the money instantly. I was then able to go back to the A&L branch and open the ISA.
