Hi all
My parents want to open a cash ISA with a high street bank/building society with branch access rather than have a postal or online acount. Does anyone know what the best deal is with your typical high street bank or building society? They would like to tie in the money for one year max, no longer, and have the full £5,100 to invest in one go.
Any advice appreciated!
Still another possibility might be Nationwide 2.75 and branch opening

Many thanks for the replies guys!
I've already passed on the details to my parents, and also advised that they pop into their local banks and building societies to see if any of them have any competitive rates. With rates being as low as they are – and if both put in the max amount to make a combined total of £10,200 – the interest over the course of a year isn't exactly amazing...
Many thanks once again :beer:0 -
I currently have over 30K, Natwest has informed me my interest rate will now plummet to .75%, i am therefore looking else where to transfer. I am considering Abbey or First Direct as they offer 3%, are either better??? I must have online accessTrinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!0

I'm tempted by the 4year fixed 4.25% intrest -anything better for a long term cash isa with large deposit?

As no-one replied... you can get a 3-year fixed at 4.2% as per the guide http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings/best-cash-isa,
always worth checking first as it's updated very regularlyFriendly greeting!0 -

No it isn't. It is infact very out of date. It is only updated monthly.

No, the guides on the main site (both instant access savings and ISAs) tend to miss out several accounts. Much better is to use this thread on the forum, which is regularly updated: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=4013740 -

Take a look at THIS thread, which should help you make up your mind. You didn't say whether you wanted variable or fixed (fixed usually have a penalty for early withdrawal, or even have no access to the funds during the term). You usually get a better rate for fixed though, ie Julian Hodge 1 year fixed is currently 3.25% (don't know whether they have online access though). Personally I wouldn't touch Abbey with a barge pole based on my past experience with them.0 -
