After numerous blocked withdrawals and countless hours on hold to speak to someone to discuss the block and permit transfer, I have recently finally managed to all get my savings back out of them and have now requested the account be closed.
I'll never go near Santander again. It was a great rate (at the time) but horrific in every other way (in my opinion). I'm glad there are now alternatives with the same/better rates.0 -

NatWest and RBS Digital Regular Saver £150 max deposit per month 5.12% paid on balances up to £1000 (from 6th Dec up to £5000)
Barclays Rainy Day Saver (for Blue Rewards Customers - have 2DD set up to get £5 credit per month that balances the £5 cost) 5.12% on amounts up to £5000 (lump sum deposit permitted).
Both are easy access.
Do your own research of course to see if any of these are suitable for you, but if you don't already have those savings products an account with one of these banks may be attractive for you.If you want me to definitely see your reply, please tag me @forumuser7 Thank you.

If you have no other income, what is the maximum amount of savings interest you can earn before paying any tax? £17,570 right? (Obviously ISAs exempt)0

Just to say that I have made a few withdrawals from my Santander eSaver, (maximum £200) and I have not had any problems. The transfers went straight into my Current Account (FirstDirect).

Following is courtesy of Which?: In addition to the personal savings allowance, an extra tax break already helps those on a low income pay either no tax or reduced tax on their savings. This £5,000 ‘starting rate for savings’ means anyone with total taxable income under their personal income tax allowance plus £5,000 will not pay any tax on your savings. This means if your total taxable income is less than £18,570, you won’t pay any tax on your savings. It helps to think of these allowances sitting on top of each other; first the personal allowance (£12,570), then the £5,000 starting savings rate at 0%, and finally the personal savings allowance worth up to £1,000.4 -
I shifted several tens of £Ks today in high 5 digit amounts from Zopa to Aldermore, via my Santander 123 Lite. No problem at all, payments processed within seconds.0

I'm glad I opened Aldermore whilst I could. If all goes according to plan I should have about 99% of my savings at 3% or above by the end of the week with nearly £8k of that at 5% or above. With Al Rayan, Gatehouse, Santander, Cynergy and Sainsbury's on standby with minimal balances at 2.75% or above just in case.1

When I tried to transfer money from santander to investec it blocked it even though I had made numerous transfers previously. Others like atom, tandem no problems .0
