Cynergy being web only but still making you fish your phone out to authenticate always feels dumb.  Their online banking is also what I would charitably call 'basic'.

I wouldn't describe it as "dumb". I thought using your phone / 2FA was par for the course these days. I need my phone to log in to Natwest OLB as they send me a OTP. For a savings account I can't see what additional functionality you would need from their online banking.

The Santander 2.75% EA account had caught my attention but I'm obviously happy with Cynergy's matching rate increase yesterday

yeah I guess lots of banks do the OTP text thing.  Just if they are going to have an app, I don't want it just for authentication.  Plus if you have multiple ppl they can't use the same phone.

I believe Cynergy are working on an app, so fingers crossed. It would be very useful.

The cynergy app is a nightmare to authenticate if you change phone I can never find the link. Always have to go to the help section.

I am one of the dinosaurs who likes withdrawal to nominated account only.

Thanks @Daliah and those who helped with my query.

I’ve looked in to the Santander account and it seems as though you do not need a current account with them in order to open their account. Can anyone confirm?

The Barclays rainy day saver caught my eye but you need to have an existing rewards blue account with them - which I don’t.
    Save £12k in 2023 challenge
    Saved Total = £9,230 / £12,000

    Secured/Unsecured loans x 0
    Credit Cards x 6
Creation FS Retail Account x 1
    Mortgage x 0 (will change in 2024!)
    Debt = £0

Charity fundraising goal for 2024 = £1,000 for animal rehoming / dog fostering etc

No you do not, just applied 3 days ago and downloaded the app ready for the 2 letters you need to get started.
Made a £10 payment into the account and rang to check, it arrived.
While on the phone I moved £2990.00 over and took seconds to arrive.
    Very impressed.

Anyone know if Santander easy access savings accounts can still be funded via direct debits from an external bank account? Seem to recall a few years ago this could be done but only via a form in the post but even then in some cases it didn’t get set up?
I tried to do this on an older eSaver I have with them several months' ago.  I posted off the form, full of hope, and still nothing's been set up.  They certainly did do it as I have another DD with them for another eSaver account, but I haven't got the strength to go through their CS as none of them used to acknowledge that this option existed anyway, way back.

Got the email, referencing 2.23% as I have selected monthly interest. Not enough to claim my cash from Santander, Gatehouse account will remain unused.

As a warning for people looking to open a new account with Gatehouse, for me the process required a passcode being sent through the post, in order to enable withdrawals.
