i see your point.  No surprise they had to close down their current account business.  Must be tough working for a company with such useless management.

To be fair to Tesco Bank, their customer support was excellent. When I phoned them to finally close both my accounts, I got through to a human without a wait and they dealt with it quickly and efficiently - the final balances (including interest) were transferred and showing in my current account before I put the phone down.
I had an issue with the clubcard pay + account, and found them dreadful
Fobbed me off with lies & misinformation. Took a week & several phone calls to get sorted.

The mimimum opening amount for Al Rayan is £5k, if I then reduce the balance to less than £5k what would happen? Would I not generate any interest?
It is a minimum opening deposit,  not a balance requirement. If the balance dips below 5k you would not gain any interest,  but you would gain profit, currently at 2.35%!

Shawbrook now need to up it's easy saver to match the  competition. It's no good stuck at 1.81%. Marcus is just hopeless.
Shawbrook Issue 30 is 1.81%, but Issue 29 is still 1.86%. Still not good.
I took their 1 Year Bond at 4.0% last week but my EA Issue 29 1.86% sits with just the £1k now. Marcus 1.8% had £33.99 last time I looked. More people need to move their funds out to encourage these providers to up their game.
  • Virgin M plus saver now 2.02% AER  up to £25000. And 1.51% AER there after..

I withdrew last month's profits from them yesterday - the amount was just less than their notification limit, so i've got no record of when I started the transfer, but I think it took about 20 mins for it to hit my nominated account.

It varies a bit, but i think generally if you make request in the morning of a working day it will arrive same day.
Made a withdrawal at 8.30am and in my account at around 1pm

Is transferring from Zopa to Al Rayan a smooth process?
Just moved over my money but Zopa would only allow me to withdraw to my verified account so had to move back to my Halifax Current account then into Al Rayan..... All very smooth, money went in within 10-20 mins. Al Rayan get the thumbs up from me so far. App is a little tricky but other than that all good
you can have multiple linked accounts with Zopa... you'd just have to upload a statement of the relative bank account and then wait for it to be approved... probably too much hassle in your case yesterday, but worth remembering for possible future use.
