Really annoying…..I have Charter Easy Access Issue 27 at 1.75%…….I need to open a new one to get the new interest rate, withdraw the money from my existing account to my nominated account and then pay it back from my nominated account to the new Issue 28. Ridiculous.0

Come on Zopa. I'm hoping there will be some movement at least next week. It's getting left way behind now. I'd rather not move my money because I like them but one of the plus points for keeping my money there was that I thought they would always maintain their competitiveness, which they have, until now...0

Annoying as these are variable accounts.jaypers said:Really annoying…..I have Charter Easy Access Issue 27 at 1.75%…….I need to open a new one to get the new interest rate, withdraw the money from my existing account to my nominated account and then pay it back from my nominated account to the new Issue 28. Open a new one and then either phone or secure message asking to transfer.

Dumb thing with Charter is that I had a fixed account with them mature and they cancelled the login details the same day. I was going to go in and look at the statement but I had to wait for the paper statement in the mail.
I mean fair enough I no longer had an account with them but I might have been tempted to open a new one. Now I would have to apply as a new customer, go through the security checks again and wait for new login details. It is like they don't want repeat business.0 -
I have accounts with Charter and found that you can transfer directly between old and new accounts once the new issue account is visible in online banking.jaypers said:Really annoying…..I have Charter Easy Access Issue 27 at 1.75%…….I need to open a new one to get the new interest rate, withdraw the money from my existing account to my nominated account and then pay it back from my nominated account to the new Issue 28.
I previously had issue 26 and transferred direct from issue 26 to 27 without having to move out to my nominated account.
I will doing the same with issue 27 to 28.

That’s interesting, thanks. Is it an immediate transfer?dali21 said:

OK thank you. It sounds like you lose one days interest when withdrawing funds then, but not sure about deposits.intalex said:
I just submitted a withdrawal this afternoon on one account, and earliest I could specify was tomorrow's date as the processing date, with the promise of funds being at the destination the next working day (Monday). So I specified Monday as the processing date instead. I didn't track the timing on deposits, the £1 test amount took a while to bounce, and the minimum £5,000 also didn't hit home anywhere near swiftly, though can't remember if it was at least same day or not.
Does anyone else know how long deposits take?Easy access
If you complete your transaction before 3pm on a working day*, your funds will arrive in your Nominated Account by the end of the following working day*.
*If your transaction is carried out after 3pm or on the weekend, please allow two working days for your funds to arrive.
Electronic payments made into your Charter Savings Bank account before 1pm, will show on the day we receive them. Payments made after 1pm will show the following working day.
If you’ve sent a cheque, this will show on the working day after we’ve received it.
