YBS don't use confirmation of payee so no matter what name you use it won't recognise it. If Santander doesn't let you make the payment there's always the option of depositing by debit card, though you'd lose 2 days worth of interest, or transferring it to a different bank first.alrk said:I am struggling to transfer money from my santander account to YBS
santander doesnt recognise the details given to me by YBS, so i get a warning message.
i think its the name. I have tried variations of my name, YbS followed by my name, but none gets recognised.
has anyone done this recently?
thanks1 -

A few months ago i had some savings mature with Atom, and transfer into my Santander account. When I opened a Chase account and tried to move my money from Santander I had nothing but trouble. The first small test amount worked. But another larger one did not, even though it showed as leaving my Santander, it did not arrive in my Chase. It took at least 3 or 4 phone calls to Santander to resolve the matter. I think they asked me if I was being coerced into moving money between my accounts at least 40 times!!!

I think the moral of the story is don't use Santander as a nominated bank account.ericlered7 said:alrk said:I am struggling to transfer money from my santander account to YBS

I move money all the time from Santander and never had a problem so, don't agree with that.2

In the reference box you need to use the YBS 10 digit number.
On a slightly different matter, when transferring an isa from YBS, I had to reissue the transfer request and use only the 10 digit reference number, as using just the sort code and 8 digit account number was returned as not recognised by YBS.Not Rachmaninov

Yes because each 8 digit account is just a holding account at NatWest so they need to know the 10 digits so they know who the request relates to. YBS can identify you from the 10 digits only, they don’t need the sort code or account number.Frogletina said:In the reference box you need to use the YBS 10 digit number.

I still find it odd that YBS need a 10 digit account number when they appear to have a unique holding account for each account they operate. I have four different YBS accounts. In each case, the YBS number is the bank account number and a 07 suffix.MDMD said:

More commonly, Building Societies use a single collections account for all their customers, where the recipient can only be identified through the reference.0 -
That’s an interesting observation, my accounts also have an 07 suffiz, maybe the 8 digit is unique…Nick_C said:

Did a payment earlier to YBS account from Halifax, didn't enter the 10 digit account number in reference field. Was sent and received ok though
