Gatehouse V Al Ryan.
Could anyone comment on the pros and cons of the two accounts please.
My intention is to operate the account online via a pc.
I have both accounts, used Pc and now apps.
I prefer apps as uses face or fingerprint
When I called them I was answered in a few rings and staff were very nice and helpful.
The only difference is 0.10%in my mind.
Al Ryan only allows transfers of 20k per day
Gatehouse has no limit.0 -
Open accounts with both and see for yourself which one suits you better. They both have prod and cons, six in one and half a dozen in the other bottom line, IMO. I have both but currently have more in AR than in GH.1

Just set up an account with Al Ryan.
Got my account details, transferred £5000 to the account.
Started the procedure for on line access to manage account. Last step was for me to scan an image on the screen. Well that was me stuffed.
Any idea if I can access the account on a PC?

You can also request a hard token device from Al Rayan.

You can, and there are two ways to do it.TBC15 said:Any idea if I can access the account on a PC?
Once you've installed and logged into the phone app, you can go to the login screen on your PC at https://digital.alrayanbank.co.uk/Login , select "Use mobile app", and use the "Scan" option on the app to scan the QR type image that appears on the PC.
Or, if you don't have a suitable phone, you can ask Al Rayan for the small Digipass scanner, which is a bit more of a faff.
The scanner, aka "hard token", has to first be registered by following the instructions. To login, you need to enter a username and password, point the scanner at the image on the PC when it appears, enter a PIN on the scanner, then enter the code it generates on the PC.
If you can log in using a phone, I can't remember off-hand anything more you can do by using a PC, and it's a lot quicker.

There is a thread on Al Rayan from 2019, many people were unhappy with their broken cash withdrawal process.
Are the problems still there? I'm weary of this bank and am wondering if their interest rate premium justifies the likelihood of pain involved!0 -
I have used Al Rayan for at least 5 years. No issues with their withdrawal processes, though they don’t offer them 24 x 7 (not uncommon). If you need more than £20k a day, they offer CHAPS for £15.Freedommm said:There is a thread on Al Rayan from 2019, many people were unhappy with their broken cash withdrawal process.

NB. I have not seen the thread you mention but just re-reading your post, I notice you are taking about cash withdrawal. All my withdrawals were electronic. I have never withdrawn cash from them.0 -
Rate inceases slowed? Waiting for the MPC meet? No significant change for a week in the ToTP ranked top easy access listed here.0

I think a lot of the banks and building societies will have postponed any interest rate meetings out of respect for The late Queen. I doubt we'll see any rate increases until after the funeral on Monday 19/9/22.soulsaver said:Rate inceases slowed? Waiting for the MPC meet?
